"Copy of PM from Chewy"

This is the type of person he is.

Despite all the sympathetic posts you recently got in the OT forum - you're still a pathetic asswipe Lou. Dont' let all that sympathy get to your head - you're still a small measure of a man.

I am absolutely stunned, shocked! Are you sure that isn't some kind of mistake Lil Joe? I would have never thought that coming from Chewy! *sigh*

Why can't people just be nice.... is it so hard, do I just expect too much in today's world? That PM really saddens me.

haha Mick, I did and sent you a reply!! So you go read yours!!

I'm still thinking about this other that Lil Joe received. Lil' Joe, I know you won't let that get to you, right? Please don't.......

Now if it was me, yes, it would bug the hell out of me but I know you can take it!!

I'm still hoping that there is some sort of mistake, that is what I want to believe.... If not, shame on you Chewy.

Now now Jan...... We can't have you getting upset either. You're about the only one that always seems happy and perks the rest of us up. We love you!

Lil'Joe, this is probably just an 'immature thing'. You know, the sort of thing that happens when circumstances don't quite go according to plan for whatever reason. Difficult to ignore but easy to rise above.

Lou, that's tame. You should see some of the mail I get from members. Some attack me personally, and some complain to me about other members. Usually I tell the ones complaining about others that I am a moderator, not a referee. The ones attacking me about something I just ignore, the writer has defined him or her self. We have a large membership and there are a few very immature people, or out and out mental cases. If I let that kind of garbage get to me I would have been out of here long ago.

It's a classless move alright, but it made me wonder a little further about the "P" in "PM". If I send someone a private message, is that privacy my right or just the option of the recipient? Not that I wouldn't have posted it just like LilJoe, but is there an ethic that says PM's shouldn't be disclosed without consent?

Just curious.

Impressive: A post about an ethical dilemma. What's next, I wonder, an outbreak of outright civility?

To be serious, however, I believe that the "P" in PM does, in fact, mean private and that, most times, consent to publicize should be sought. Most times, but not in this case. The writer of that egregious and insulting comment gave up his right to be consulted when he violated, both publicly and privately, the generally accepted rules of civil discourse. Making that remark public was the right thing to do, in my opinion.

I believe the P in PM can also mean Personal, since nothing is really private on the internet.

Dave, conventional wisdom is never to put anything in an e-mail you want to keep confidential. I would extend that to read, never write anything dowd that you want to keep confidential, or tape it for that natter.

The Cast (in order of appearance.)
M= Man looking for an argument
R= Receptionist
Q= Abuser
A= Arguer (John Cleese)
C= Complainer (Eric Idle)
H= Head Hitter

M: Ah. I'd like to have an argument, please.
R: Certainly sir. Have you been here before?
M: No, I haven't, this is my first time.
R: I see. Well, do you want to have just one argument, or were you thinking of taking a course?
M: Well, what is the cost?
R: Well, It's one pound for a five minute argument, but only eight pounds for a course of ten.
M: Well, I think it would be best if I perhaps started off with just the one and then see how it goes.
R: Fine. Well, I'll see who's free at the moment.
Pause
R: Mr. DeBakey's free, but he's a little bit conciliatory.
Ahh yes, Try Mr. Barnard; room 12.
M: Thank you.

(Walks down the hall. Opens door.)

Q: WHAT DO YOU WANT?
M: Well, I was told outside that...
Q: Don't give me that, you snotty-faced heap of parrot droppings!
M: What?
Q: Shut your festering gob, you tit! Your type really makes me puke, you vacuous, coffee-nosed, maloderous, pervert!!!
M: Look, I CAME HERE FOR AN ARGUMENT, I'm not going to just stand...!!
Q: OH, oh I'm sorry, but this is abuse.
M: Oh, I see, well, that explains it.
Q: Ah yes, you want room 12A, Just along the corridor.
M: Oh, Thank you very much. Sorry.
Q: Not at all.
M: Thank You.
(Under his breath) Stupid git!!

(Walk down the corridor)
M: (Knock)
A: Come in.
M: Ah, Is this the right room for an argument?
A: I told you once.
M: No you haven't.
A: Yes I have.
M: When?
A: Just now.
M: No you didn't.
A: Yes I did.
M: You didn't
A: I did!
M: You didn't!
A: I'm telling you I did!
M: You did not!!
A: Oh, I'm sorry, just one moment. Is this a five minute argument or the full half hour?
M: Oh, just the five minutes.
A: Ah, thank you. Anyway, I did.
M: You most certainly did not.
A: Look, let's get this thing clear; I quite definitely told you.
M: No you did not.
A: Yes I did.
M: No you didn't.
A: Yes I did.
M: No you didn't.
A: Yes I did.
M: No you didn't.
A: Yes I did.
M: You didn't.
A: Did.
M: Oh look, this isn't an argument.
A: Yes it is.
M: No it isn't. It's just contradiction.
A: No it isn't.
M: It is!
A: It is not.
M: Look, you just contradicted me.
A: I did not.
M: Oh you did!!
A: No, no, no.
M: You did just then.
A: Nonsense!
M: Oh, this is futile!
A: No it isn't.
M: I came here for a good argument.
A: No you didn't; no, you came here for an argument.
M: An argument isn't just contradiction.
A: It can be.
M: No it can't. An argument is a connected series of statements intended to establish a proposition.
A: No it isn't.
M: Yes it is! It's not just contradiction.
A: Look, if I argue with you, I must take up a contrary position.
M: Yes, but that's not just saying 'No it isn't.'
A: Yes it is!
M: No it isn't!

A: Yes it is!
M: Argument is an intellectual process. Contradiction is just the automatic gainsaying of any statement the other person makes.
(short pause)
A: No it isn't.
M: It is.
A: Not at all.
M: Now look.
A: (Rings bell) Good Morning.
M: What?
A: That's it. Good morning.
M: I was just getting interested.
A: Sorry, the five minutes is up.
M: That was never five minutes!
A: I'm afraid it was.
M: It wasn't.
Pause
A: I'm sorry, but I'm not allowed to argue anymore.
M: What?!
A: If you want me to go on arguing, you'll have to pay for another five minutes.
M: Yes, but that was never five minutes, just now. Oh come on!
A: (Hums)
M: Look, this is ridiculous.
A: I'm sorry, but I'm not allowed to argue unless you've paid!
M: Oh, all right.
(pays money)
A: Thank you.
short pause
M: Well?
A: Well what?
M: That wasn't really five minutes, just now.
A: I told you, I'm not allowed to argue unless you've paid.
M: I just paid!
A: No you didn't.
M: I DID!
A: No you didn't.
M: Look, I don't want to argue about that.
A: Well, you didn't pay.
M: Aha. If I didn't pay, why are you arguing? I Got you!
A: No you haven't.
M: Yes I have. If you're arguing, I must have paid.
A: Not necessarily. I could be arguing in my spare time.
M: Oh I've had enough of this.
A: No you haven't.
M: Oh Shut up.

(Walks down the stairs. Opens door.)

M: I want to complain.
C: You want to complain! Look at these shoes. I've only had them three weeks and the heels are worn right through.
M: No, I want to complain about...
C: If you complain nothing happens, you might as well not bother.
M: Oh!
C: Oh my back hurts, it's not a very fine day and I'm sick and tired of this office.

(Slams door. walks down corridor, opens next door.)

M: Hello, I want to... Ooooh!
H: No, no, no. Hold your head like this, then go Waaah. Try it again.
M: uuuwwhh!!
H: Better, Better, but Waah, Waah! Put your hand there.
M: No.
H: Now..
M: Waaaaah!!!
H: Good, Good! That's it.
M: Stop hitting me!!
H: What?
M: Stop hitting me!!
H: Stop hitting you?
M: Yes!
H: Why did you come in here then?
M: I wanted to complain.
H: Oh no, that's next door. It's being-hit-on-the-head lessons in here.
M: What a stupid concept.

Thanks Bob, I like John Cleese, a complete and utter idiot and my kind of humour.

And my own personal assessment of you Lou is still dead on. There's nothing in that PM that i'm afraid to show on the forum. I'm glad you posted it Lou - atleast you can still read well.

There's atleast another member who used to post regularly and he hardly comes around due to your pathetic behavior of going around and instigating fights and goating people into attacking you. I know he won't come out and say it for fear of backlash from the forum members. I'll atleast tell you to your face you're an ass.

Within any group of peeps there will be a few that just don't get along, for whatever reason. The trick is not in acknowledging the problem, but in fixing the problem.

It is simple to ignore problems.

The real measure of a person is in the ability to try and fix the problem.

Now the question is begged: Who goes first?

Thanks for the link, Waldo. That explains why "Chewy" is upset with Lou. That said, Lou was very polite in his posts to try and point out that "Chewy" was once again, starting a thread about expired "specials."

It's not uncommon to get hate mail from someone that you know on a forum, and had a minor disagreement with, during a thread or two; but it's another thing to get hate mail because the poster is happy that you are ill.

I'm glad that Lou posted the contents of the PM, and I'm sorry that he had to be the recipent of hate mail, during this stressful time in his life.

I have known Lou since I first joined the forum, have exchanged emails back and forth with him, and talked to him on the phone. Some of the forum members have met him at a forum gathering (many years ago and before I joined the forum). Those of us that know and respect Lou, know that he is not the person that "Chewy" is talking about. He must have Lou confused with someone else.

I call em like I see em Marti. You have every right in your own pathetic way to come to the rescue of your "buddy" - but I'm not afraid to speak my mind when i'm pissed off. Sure perhaps my PM to Lou wasn't polite, but he obviously didn't learn his lessons when i ripped him a new asshole the first time around - and came back for more. I'm always more than willing to oblige for him. You obviously have me "mistaken" for someone who gives a rip.

Chewy, I've reviewed the replies that LilJoe made in response to the deals you posted and I don't see anything wrong with them. He was merely pointing out that the deals had ended before you posted them. Your replies in the various threads were uncalled for as was your PM to LilJoe (especially considering LilJoe's recent medical problems). I would strongly suggest that you either calm down or find another forum to frequent.

Lou has cancer. Yikes! Jan posted this thread http://www.pcqanda.com/dc/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=4&topic_id=83430&mesg_id=83430&page=
and many of us thought it was another joke of the day thread, because she didn't properly title her thread. I didn't know about Lou's condition until he sent me an email! I found out later, that Jan had posted a thread on Lou's medical problems.

(Note to all posters: Please find a meaningful subject when you start a thread, in the OT forum or in the computer help forum.)

That one is for the mod's to decide but one should always be carefull
of judging another member. Maybe Chewy has had something terrible happen in his private life & sometimes people don't know how to react in these situation. Hopefully somehow this will have a happy ending & we can all move on & share in helping others in their computer needs.

The only person I've seen him have a problem with is Lou, and as much as no one wants to hear it, Lou has done his part to instigate Chewy's apparent lack of any hint of impulse control.

It takes two. I'm disappointed in the both of them.

I need linkage

But if it's OT I don't care, that's what it's for. And if it's involving LilJoe I probably don't either, part of the same stew. Myk likes to argue, so he don't count either

The basic point is that this behavior seems quite out of character for what I've seen of either one. I'm totally befuddled by the whole thing. I find it disturbing - I like the both of them, and if this was the real world, I or someone else would have sat them down a long time ago. But it's the web, so what do you do?

It really is not out of character.

You recall how WAY back we could have a knock down drag out in one thread and the same people could be helping each other in another thread at the same time? Obviously Chewy can't do that. You can't even disagree or do anything that makes him lose face or you're on a permanent poo list.

The "good old days" are a myth of rose colored hindsight and the fog of time. I can remember a vicious racist attack some idiot made against Xin Lee on the winmag forum. I also remember many people who left that forum in a huff over some real or imagined slight.

One thing I have learned in life is that if you put 8 or 10 people in a room together it won't be long before there is an argument or personality conflict. When you get up to 12 people, fights can break out...the call that a jury.

Sorry folks, I didn't intend for that to happen.

I'm confused now truthfully just how to post... It appears by the look of things that if it doesn't have a "J" it's not a joke... I'm sorry for the confusion that I may have caused some of you that you thought it was a joke. *sigh*

Edit: Oops don't know how I got a double post... however, I was thinking about this and now looking back I guess I should have put Lil Joe's name in the subject line...simply just wasn't thinking about it at the time.

A subject line should convey something to the reader about the content of the post. Like yours could have been simply, "Sad News Everyone ..."

See? You had news, it was sad, and it was for everyone.

I knew Chewy wasn't right when he supported....oh crap what's his name?

Oh yeah. When he supported John Kerry. And when he used to bash me for being republican.

Hang in there Lou!
