Windows explorer acting strange. I just reformatted and reinstalled to correct a problem with my HP Scanner. That fixed the problem, but after a few days when I attempt to open any file from Windows Explorer, I get the find page. No matter what I do, I can't open the file. The programs I installed are all from backups I had made and I don't believe that I infected anything with them. Help is desperately required.
EDIT: Further to this, I found that I can open any windows explorer window by right clicking on the start button and then right clicking on any folder I require from there. I've never heard of this situation and am wondering what I did wrong.

You say in your question that the problem is with clicking files but much of the question suggests you're actually clicking folders (the default action when clicking a file is generally something other than 'open').
Is this a problem when clicking files, folders, or both?

Is this a problem when clicking files, folders, or both? Sorry for the misunderstanding. It only goes to search when I double click on the folder itself. If I right click on the folder and select explore or open, it does so properly. It does what it's supposed to do when clicking on exe's and such.
