"More Memory?"

This is what I get when I go to Crucial

Congratulations! You've found the list of modules compatible
with your E-machines eTower 667ir
• Maximum Memory: 256MB
• Standard Memory: 64MB removable
• Slots: 2 (2 banks of 1)
• Explanation of Memory Terms

So does this mean the max I can put in is 2 sticks of 128MB, for a max of 256MB ?

Was wondering because in another thread they were making it sound like it was dependent on what OS you are using ?

This PC came with Windows ME, but I am running Windows XP now, so can I add more RAM ?

Go ahead and add more RAM, so as long as your mobo can support more RAM. Since you are using Windows XP, which is based on Windows 2000, the extra RAM that you add will surely be used wisely and efficiently by your system, unlike Windows 98 which doesn't use RAM as efficiently as Windows 2000/XP.

The maximum memory for your machine is two 128MB DIMM's for a total of 256MB. You will have to discard the 64MB now installed. That's what it says.

I have already installed the 256MB of ram, what I was wondering can I add more than 256MB since I am using Win XP, or is my system maxed out at 256 as it says on the Crucial Page?

BigBro, what's yer motherboard and what's its chipset?

Ya gotta get a mobo with a chipset that supports more RAM if you'd like to have more RAM. I believe 256mb is already more than optimum for WindowsXP.
