"Windows Explorer"

I have my explorer style set to classic. In view:folder options, I have everything checked that I want. The problem is each time I open Explorer, it goes back to another scheme.

Also, my desktop icons, are rearranged almost everytime I start up. I don't have auto arrange checked.

I have Win98 SE

Can you help with these?

Thanks,
Sherry

Sherry,

There are so many permutations of system settings, it isn't always easy to pin down the best approach for someone else. Try this:

Open an Explorer Window and set it to exactly the way you want it. Open View>Folder Options and make sure there is a check in the box that says "Remember each folder's view settings". Now, click the "Apply" Button. Next, locate the box above the settings that says "Like Current Folder" and select it. You will probably have to click "OK" on a dialog box. If the "Apply" button isn't greyed out (I can't remember if it is or isn't on this step), select it again. Close explorer and refresh or reboot.

If this doesn't work, try the same thing with "My Computer". You can always set "My Computer" back the way you like it after setting other folders on the system.
