"What do you think I should do?" Sun Dec-16-01 03:07 PM
I think someone that uses this computer knows my passwords. I want to know for sure, so i'm thinking of installing a keylogger.
I don't want to get any of their info though, I just want to know if they are using my stuff.
I know that I can just change the passwords, but, there's a lot of them, and i've been using them for a few years and haven't had any problems with them. I don't want to change and remember new ones.

You don't say what operating system and how the computer is set up. You also don't say who owns the computer.
You could create a small script that would cause a pop up box demanding a different password. Failure to enter the password would result in a recording of the intrusion. Of course, this doesn't tell you which one of the suspects got in, just that someone did.
Key logging programs are an invitation for trouble. Avoid that approach.
Change your passwords every couple of months, even if you think you're secure.

I use W2K, but what I forgot to tell you was that it isn't the computer password. It's online passwords, like for forums like this. I know who potentially knows it, and I know that he could just use another computer, but when he does use this one, I want to know if he's doing anything with my accounts.
Sonny, I think that's a little too extreme for this. Thanks though!
Just be carefull that it is not Spyware. I have not checked it personally, but it says no ads. If this is not what you need, try a Google search to find another Freeware product.

Oh no, there is no way i'm storing any of my passwords in this computer (or plan to in any). Here's the situation - Someone probably knows my passwords (online stuff - e-mails, etc.). I want to know if he uses them. So I want to set up something that will record what he does. I was hoping for something that logs if "xxx" is typed, then it logs it. I don't need a full logger. I'll just partially put my password and see if it gets typed. Don't know where to get something like that though.
