"Help Me Setup This Case"

I have decided for nostalgia to use this old Lian Li case for my next build. This case is unique. The object in the photo is a CPU duct. It blows air from outside onto the CPU. After cleaning the case, I noticed that the front fan was blowing outward. I turned that around. In which direction should the side fan be blowing? If memory serves me, it was blowing air out of the case. This case also features a removable motherboard tray.

The side fan should be an exhaust fan, I'm 90% sure

I used to have a similar case that was one step up. It was a Lian Li PC65 USB. I didn't bother using the side fan. The case had a plexiglass
window but there wasn't a hole drilled to accommodate the fan input.

You may want to email Baron Chen for a schematic. I quick search on the internet shows that the part goes over the processor and is exhausted out the back.

baron@mail.lian-li.com

He helped me out with a broken part for free in the past.

I just bought a new case. I was seduced by a sale on Amazon. I feel like I am abandoning an old faithful dog. It really made sense. I needed to buy ports to add USB 3.0. I needed new plastic connectors for the front panel. It would have cost me about $15. I wanted larger fans. The two 80mm ones could not be changed. The new case cost me under $40 with free shipping. I do feel some guilt however. I tend to animate my possessions. The CPU duct did make working on the computer a bit more inconvenient.

With the limitation of the size of fans on the Lian Li case you made a good choice. this generation of cases wasn't designed for today's CPU's. I do miss the gauge of aluminum that Lian Li used on their older cases though. Lots of complaints on their newer cases feeling like tin.

Enjoy the new case.

Thanks for your informative reply. My next item will be the power supply. I am in no hurry. When I see a good price, I'll buy one.

I switched over to that class of Roswell case years ago and have never gone back. They are functional and reasonable in price. Not the most elegant but solid dependable designs that do the job and look nice too. Good choice.

The case arrived. It never ceases to amaze me how they can sell that case for about $35 with free shipping. I once sent a motherboard back to the manufacturer. It cost about $20 in shipping.
