See if this helps:

Open Settings,

In the search box, type in RAN

Select Ransomware Protection

Under Controlled Folder Access, Click button to turn "OFF", if it's ON.

Close Settings. Try adding an app again.

Jim.

A list appears for me when I type RAN in the Settings search. "RAN" is short for Ransomware. Click on the Ransomware Protection.

If no dropdown list appears, try typing in Ransomware Protection.

Jim.

Jim,

When I type RAN in the settings search it goes indeed, show Ransomware protection but when I click on it I get the following: Your IT administrator has limited access to some areas of this app.
I get the same message with I click on Controlled Folder Access. What would you suggest I try now. Thank you for your help.

That's interesting. When I click the button, it switches from its current setting to the opposite setting On/Off - Off/On.

On the Settings/Ransomware page, in the left column I'd go through all the various categories to see if anything obvious stands out.

You don't have an "IT Administrator", do you?

I have to go out for awhile but I'll check back later. Good luck.

Jim.
