"Windows 10 rebooting"

I have just started having an issue where my PC randomly shuts down. The screen just goes black like the power has gone out then the machine reboots. Any ideas where to start? I’m at work now so will try a few things tonight. Maybe check disk for HD and run some scans but I’m thinking this may be hardware.

Most likely a failing power supply.

Overheating? If it's a desktop, open it up to check if the interior is dust covered. Also check that the fan(s) is running.

Thanks. Checked everything and looks ok hardware wise. Might be time for a new power supply. Actually it's almost time to just build a new machine anyway. I did go into system settings and turned off "Fast Startup" and that seems to have fixed it. For now. It ran about 5 hours last night and did not reboot.

Run MemTest before getting a new power supply. My wife's computer would randomly reboot, found the memory to be to cause. Replaced and the problem went away.

Looks like I will try this as it has started rebooting again. I searched the program you mentioned is that MemTest86? I will download this and give it a try. Thanks.

Yes. I saw another version that runs in Windows. I would not consider using it, stick with the tried and true bootable version.

I did the bootable scan. It took 2 hours but RAM passed. No errors. PC has not rebooted since 9AM Sunday. And it was on all day until about 10P. Not overheating. The only thing that seems odd is my Nvidia control panel will sometimes load and sometimes not. Could the video card or video card driver be a possible cause?

Thanks for all the ideas but I think I have it solved. My power strip/surge protector was very old (like 30 years old). I got a new surge protector and have not had a reboot in over a week.
