This is a long shot but I just wondered if anyone has had the same issue. I booted up and noticed that the icon with the white shield and the green tick is missing from the Task Bar. I've had the PC for over 2 years and the icon has always shown; I check every time I boot that all the expected icons are showing. I haven't changed anything and I've done all the usual Update and Security checks in settings. Has anyone had this issue? Thanks.

I've had taskbar items that temporarily disappeared - but reappeared at the next login - so try that logout then back in and maybe it will reappear.
Also, click on the caret (Show hidden icons} located to the left of the taskbar icons that are displayed. If it's now hidden, simply drag it down to the taskbar.
You can also check in Settings to make sure that the icon is actually still set to appear in the taskbar.
Just because it's not shown does not mean that you are unprotected. In my experience, Windows - all versions - throw a hissy fit of popups providing abundant notice.

Thanks Jim. I've rebooted several times and it still doesn't appear. I don't have a caret showing because I don't have any hidden icons (I don't like things hidden! ) The weird thing is that in settings the icons don't match the correct list item e.g. the missing icon is associated with the sChecklist
I had this issue a lot in Windows 7 and I thought MS had cracked it when I never had the problem in Windows 10, until now. Oh, and I've restarted File Explorer several times with no luck.
