"duplicate files"

W10, all updates. How important is it to delete duplicate files? I know there are several programs that will do this, but is it worth the bother?

I know there is software to delete duplicates, but I've heard opposing arguments. I'd welcome opinions.

I've never bothered as I have more than sufficient storage for my needs.

If space were tight, then maybe I'd consider it. Or, I would buy a larger drive and keep everything.

Jim.

Thank you Jim. My storage drive is less than 25% full, so I'll leave it be/

I'm always a bit puzzled about the topic of duplicate files.
I can't think of any of my files that I may have created, accidentally or otherwise, that I have inadvertently duplicated.
There again I'm probably in the minority at keeping a neat and controlled file system.
If it's referring to Windows' or other non-user files then that's different and would you want to remove those files anyway?
