I don't think so. Since I have been off from work on short term disability I have been spending about 10 hours a day on the forum. Of course before I got broadband it took that long to just check the messages twice.

Nope, and why would you want one?

Welcome to the forum!!! It's not just people giving answers and questions, I found that it's like a family.

The only known cure is to sign up for UD and join the PC911 team. It really doesn't cure the addiction but you sure feel a lot better about hanging out here.

Good point Gerba.

Hey I stopped in here once with a question about two years back and I am still stuck here.

PS: There are a lot worse places a person could get addicted to.

Hey, I came here towards the end of last year, and have become a regular almost on a daily routine. Its like visiting your favorite watering hole. Not everybody agrees to your views and neither do you to theirs;but collectively we are a bunch of great folks, friendly, caring, emtional, sometimes a little idiotic--but that is life.It makes me feel good to be participating with you all.

Thank You All,

No I dont think there is!
It is odd I have been coming here for about 6 months on the recommendation of someone on another forum. I have never seen that person post here. They could of course be using a different userid but you can still usually spot people you know.

Yes. Get another addiction. I prefer the addiction to females works for me. Drugs are too expensive although I'm looking forward to the Meds I'll probably be taking in a few short years.

Actually it was recommended to me (by Gerba). I was having some small problems and he steered me here where I immediately found what I was looking for. Joined the PC911 cancer fighting team as as well as the forum and this is the first place I check after email. Even when I'm not having problems, I love the OT stuff enough that I hit here more often than anywhere, about a dozen times a day.

Dont know about being addicted but for the last 12 months or so I have been coming back here time and time again. It is a bit intimidating at times though to post on the computer hassles as there are so many knowledgeable people here. So I normally leave that to the more experienced ones. And one other thing I enjoy here is the friendly banter and some of the not so friendly arguments.

Thanks for the info and fun you all supply guys/gals.

IMHO, if you are not prepared to try & post & stick your neck out from time to time, you may never get to learn what you did wrong/or right!!!

Go for it, you may surprise yourself, I have been into PC's for 3 years & more seriously for 2 years & I still surprise myself, I had a old friend come & visit me halfway around the globe, all the way from Australia & he has been serious for several years & he said to my wife that he was "In awe of me, as to the depth of my knowledge" I was totally stunned as I never did (& still don't) see myself that way, the point is, that without places like this, which I regard as an online family community, I wouldn't know half the stuff that I do & I can be unsure of myself posting in here, but hey, all that can happen is that Shelly will get his Antec powered electric chair out & demonstrate the effectiveness of that quality device whilst correcting us all!

I think Alex has the only vial of cure for PC911 addiction, but he keeps it under lock and key. I think the only thing close to a cure is addicting other people. First I got Beth hooked on PC911 (though she claims she can quit anytime she wants to ) and a friend of mine finally popped in and has become hooked.

Why Sonny? This reminds Jason and me about the way we met. Ah, the memories!

PC911 is one of my good addictions and I don't want a cure. Only draw back is having withdrawal symptoms when I'm out of town and can't get to a computer. Love the forum and the people.

I came here about 2 years ago (I think..the dope they give out around here tends to affect my memory)..i think my first question was something about my roomates Geforce2 GTS or something. Its funny, back then I was scared to build a computer, I was deathly afraid of giving the wrong advice, and I was broke. Now, I build computers weekly, I try to give good advice, and I'm still broke.

One of the things I've always thought was interesting is the whole "computer knowledge" learning curve. I have absolutely no clue where I rank in terms of my ascension to "guru" status, but i would like to think that at the very least I have helped someone out of a jam...I just haven't met them yet

I wish I had known about this place before I shelled out a couple of years ago for an A+ prep. certification course. Most of the little bit I know now, and I stress little, came from studying posts on this forum which gave me the courage to start tearing things apart and building computers. I look at other forums and actually do more posting on some of them, mainly because I find more people that I can help on other forums. Trouble with this place is most of you geeks have so much knowledge it is a little intimidating and it is rare that someone else doesn't answer a question better than I can. But this place really does have a kind of family atmosphere that is hard to put my finger on and does not happen on other forums.
It's my home page and I come here everyday.
ps. I'm not addicted though; I can quit anytime. I quit about a week ago (the power went off)

" Trouble with this place is most of you geeks have so much knowledge it is a little intimidating ..."
Our job as Geek wannabes is to provide the Ubergeeks/Gurus plenty of teaching opportunities to them by displaying how little we actually know or how much we THINK we know. It's our job, as many have already stated, to remind Shelly of all the mistakes(aka learning opportunities) he's already made and doesn't want to make again.
After awhile, we actually start to feel comfortable with this arrangement and take those learning opportunities in stride. But you've got to step up to the plate and get honest...
My name is Mickster and I'm a tech idiot! Please help me with my problem.
The PC911 12 Step Recovery program has meetings at 12:01am every Saturday. You have to go to the mirc chat room and in order to do that, you need a PC911 Sponsor, just like AA. They've got to check you out and see if you're sick enough to qualify. They're VERY short meetings, so I've been told as I'm not THAT sick....yet!(mickster sounds like a danged alkie...oh, that's right...I am one!)

Thanks for all the great banter folks. In case ya can't tell...I really like it here!

I'm not hooked. I only check the board once or twice an hour.

I know the solution for those who are hooked although it is painful like all de-toxification programs.

Take a hammer and smash your computer.

It really is a BIG HANG OVER (oh my heads hurts) from the WinMag Forum, before it went to bit Heaven. It started out before the closure and ended up being the biggest Wake I have been to and still at.

My only regret is that I never have anything to offer. Anything I know (concerning computers) that is important, I've learned from these wonderful folks.

I came here a couple of years ago, and never left.

Here's what keeps me addicted to PC911:
-Friendly, family-like atmosphere
-Everyone else is here
-Cool moderators
-MrMan's Grado headphones
-Being part of Team PC911, helping to stomp out cancer
-Tastes like chicken!
