Do you mean that you are dual booting Windows ME and Windows 2000? Or did you really mean to say Windows 2000.

What you probably did was somehow altered/renamed/moved/corrupted your boot.ini file if it happened with the msconfig utility. What you should probably do is repair Windows 2000 if you're unable to fix it any other way.

Start Windows 2000 Setup by any means and choose Repair.

More information about your setup might get you a better answer.

He's written me in private and said that he's only got WinME.

Therefore, I'm clueless as to how you got a missing ntldr error message while trying to start your system, unless Windows NT or Windows 2000 were installed previously, and you've been booting WinME using the ntldr boot loader.

So what I'd probably do is, boot the computer with a WinME Startup Disk, and from the A:\> prompt, type

sys c:

Then, pop out the boot floppy and press ctrl-alt-del (or cycle the power or press the reset button) to restart your system. Windows ME should start directly now.
