"Good Deal on a Maxtor 200 GB HDD"

Kudos to Tomshop over at Fatwallet for finding this deal.

Courtesy of Tomshop:
==========================================================
"Staples is selling the Maxtor 200GB Ultra ATA w/ 8MB cache for 299.98 with a $50 rebate.

Amazon is selling the same drive for 166.99 after MIR.

Order Staples, sku # 504417 for 299.98.
Apply the best coupon you can. Mine was $20/$100
==========================================================

At first, the Staples CSR refused to do the price match saying even though they had the same Maxtor item number (L01P200) on the box, she claimed they were different hard drives. I argued with them and said if Maxtor is gonna put the same item number on the box then it must be the same darn thing. I asked to complain to a manager and she put me on hold for about 5-10 min. She came back and told me she got her manager to make an exception. Yeah right. Looks more like Staples was trying to squirm their way out of it cuz the difference was so great they didn't want to do the PM.

At any rate, if any of you folks are interested, you can do the price match, then apply a $30 off a $150 or more coupon. << 36637 >>

I got me one for $87.14 out the door (works out to $.43 per GB roughly). wahoooo!!! Good luck!!

Note: coupon code expires 6/30/03. I'm not sure about the expiration date for Staples and Amazon. If you're gonna do it, do it quick.

Yup, it sure does pay to be patient. There was a similar deal posted couple of weeks ago on the same hard drive, but it was def. one of those YMMV type of things and seemed most people were getting it for $112.xx and change. It's a good thing i passed up on that deal cuz this one is mucho better.

I am so looking forward to installing this mother of a drive on my PC. I'm almost out of room on my 40 gigger and i'm probably gonna go with NTFS so that i don't have to worry about the cluster size issue.

200 GB.... whoa nellie. I'm gonna be downloading everything in site!
