I currently have cable service through Comcast@Home. As you may know, this is going to change to Comcast.net in the next few months, as Comcast will change over to there own network to replace Excite@Home.
My problem is this, Comcast has announced that they will not provide access to newsgroups and I am considering changing to Verizon DSL. I know it is more expensive, and I think slower than cable.
Any thoughts/suggestions?? I have become spoiled with the speed of cable, and the thought of a slower connection is not very appealing, but neither is losing newsgroups.
I have cable access and my ISP never has had newsgroups. Bummer. But there are some free servers out there. I don't believe there are too many that carry the warez and hacker groups, but I could be mistaken. Here's a couple that I use: dp-news.maxwell.syr.edu and 202.85.164.51. They both carry lots of alt. groups. Both are relatively fast, but the downside is most of the free ones don't allow posting so I have to go to google to post. Kind of a pain, but watcha gonnna do. Or you can do a google search for free news servers. Good luck.
Plus I hope there's no problem with posting the URL's. If so I apologize and won't do it again. I saw nothing in the FAQ about it.
