"Using Norton Ghost"
Sun Feb-02-03 04:14 AM

Ghost asks me about using MS DOS instead of PC DOS. Does it matter? How do i install MS DOS as it asks?
And how do i start it! All i see to chose from are Boot Wizard and G. Explorer? Thanks

On some computers (mine, for example), you may have problems using PC-DOS instead of MS-DOS. I was getting intermittent error messages when trying to save an image file. Using MS-DOS solved the problem.

When you create a Ghost boot disk using the Boot Disk Wizard you are given the option to use MS-DOS. You can use your W9x boot disk when it asked for MS-DOS files.

To start Ghost, reboot, making sure you have the boot floppy loaded and your boot menu specifies booting from the floppy drive.

I got into Ghost from the PC DOS boot disk. Selected my C drive from Local-Partition-To Image; I selected the source partition....then it asked for File Name to copy image to; told me i didn't have enough space did i want to compress?...no...span?....no...Error:not enough space 0mb avail. 7100 needed. It never asked for a destination location. What did i do wrong?

What version of Ghost do you have? Have you tried reading the manual?

The default location is the floppy drive. You'll have to change the location to the drive you wish to save the image to using the drop down menu.

Have you R(ead) T(he) F(riendly) M(anual)?

Yeah, I'll have to admit the Ghost manual leaves a lot to be desired, but a lot of people bypass everything the manual has to offer and just start yelling Help.

If you purchased the OEM version of NSW, you will find the manuals on the CD.

There is a user guide available if you installed Ghost Explorer.
