Denbeau, a couple of weeks ago, you posted a question about hooking up 2 computers to a single UPS. I replied that it wouldn't be very practical based on the fact that you would need a wattage rating sufficient for both PCs. Plus considering the drop in prices of several models lately, i thought you could buy 2 separate units for a relatively good price.
I guess i'm wrong about that one as i've found a pretty good deal. I was at our local Microcenter store the other day and noticed they have the APC 1500 VA for $200.00 That's a pretty good deal. Take a look at the power specs here. (BTW, it's above 800 watts) I'm not sure if that is the "sale" price or reg. price - i was in a hurry and didn't have time to look more in detail.
I got an APC Smart 1500va (SUA1500I) for running 3 systems. Works great. Check the possibility you may be comparing APC apples with oranges regarding prices. The SMART APC UPS is not the same animal as the BACKUP series, and don't get lost in the VA / Watts scenario, or at least have another look at my recent post 'When is a Watt-Not?'. It received lots of good informative feedback. So at the risk of over simplification; Measure your overall required current under load (= va) - take a factor of not more than 60% and that is the ups VA (not Watts) you require.

emes, i'm aware of everything you said in your post.
My post for denbeau is more for the benefit of his interest or others looking into hooking up more 2 PCs to a single UPS. And no i was not confusing VA for watts - i said it's above 800 watts to point out to denbeau referencing to a previous statement i made to him a few days ago.
I've confirmed it is a "sale" price per Microcenter's website. here's the link:
