"file from grc.com"

Somewhere in Steve Gibson's website is a file I can download 'nasties', that lists all the websites that one doesn't want a cookie from.
I can't find it at all on his site - no 'search' button - but I know it is from him. I believe it was mentioned in one of his discussion groups.
This file can be merged with other listings for IE.

Anyone help me with this?

TIA

Lonnie

Thank you, thank you, thank you...just what I needed.
Since I had to do a clean re-install of my WinME yesterday...grrrrrr...I have to find and add all of my goodies.
This really helps me a bunch (got the link for the web accessories too).
I can't do any of this stuff until I get back to my house this evening (am at daughter's house during the day...yawn), so I will be hunting down the rest of the stuff.

Again, thank you for your help. Really appreciate it very much.

ilona53,

Have you considered getting a Windows recovery program that can restore your system and avoid a re-install like you're going through?

If they are anything like what I have read in this forum...I don't think so - too complicated for me to even comprehend, let alone use them.
I have a cd-rw, but don't even make backups, cause I can't figure out the software and how to use it...besides, there is nothing to backup - just re-install my stuff from the cd's that contain whatever software came on it (93% free resources - 20G HDD with 17.+G available).

ilona53,

Considering you have a system with a single partition hard drive, the Sony CD-RW CRX140E, and that you're not too concerned about data recovery, I recommend using PowerQuest's Drive Image 5 to create Images of your system after you get everything reinstalled and updated like you want it.

With a current system Image on CDs, you can reload your system in a few minutes back to where it was when you made the Image and avoid the time comsuming procedure you're doing now.

Don't worry about Drive Image being too difficult, I'll be glad to help you through any problems and I'm sure there're many others here that will too.

A good place to start would be the How To here...

http://www.pcnineoneone.com/howto/image1.html .

Ghost is in the tutorial too but I think Drive Image might be more user friendly for your purpose.

A Demo version of Drive Image can be downloaded here...

http://www.powerquest.com/driveimage/didemo.html .

Think about it,

NytOwl

Thanks anyway. Too much work and that stuff is still too confusing for me to comprehend.
The only problems I have when doing a clean install is getting the damn IE Security stuff setup correctly...like now - having problems with that!
I have read and re-read whatever links Tuffie sent me - thank you - but they still keep changing on me after I have 'set' them.
Ended up using the 'default' setting for all the Zones, but the damn things keep making me login to pc911 AND my homepage (trusted sites) and cookies are enabled!!!!
I am giving up...will just have to login everytime to both sites...too much time wasted trying to figure out this crap...when IE6.0 was 1st updated, I had no problems, but since this clean re-install, I just can't get these 2 sites to accept my cookies.
Wish Microsoft had listed - in detail - what each Zone's section should be marked (enable/disable,etc)...would make my life easier.

Again, thanks for trying to help me.

>I just can't get these 2 sites to accept my cookies.<

It's bad when your cookies keep getting tossed. }>

Lonnie, the Expressa software that came with your computer leaves a lot to be desired from what I saw in reviews.

There are more user friendly burning programs and besides, Drive Image is a lot easier to use than something like Nero or Easy CD Creator.

It's a shame to go to all the trouble of getting a system set up like you want it and then not be able to recover it when necessary.
