I'm trying to figure out why the volume of spam I receive would abruptly diminish (never thought that would happen.) Several days ago I seemed to get a much higher rate of spam (50 to 60 per day) getting through my ISP's filter, then two days ago I only got 3 to 4 per day and the same has occurred today. I checked the announcements on the ISP and there is no mention of server filters of any kind. It also looks like the volume of spam that is filtered is considerably lower.
It's as if I have suddenly had my email address spontaneously deleted from the spammers lists. Since I know that's not a likely possibility I'm wondering what other explanation there could be. Just a normal variation? Seems unlikely.
Dave we must be on the same lists. Spam on my machine has dropped also in the last couple of days. Maybe its because the kids are back in school. (That's a joke)
I'm used to general fluctuations in volumes of spam. This one just seemed to be so dramatic that I wondered if something good was going on - like a spammer virus or something. Wouldn't that be a nice twist? A virus that infects any computer that has ever generated spam
I should be so lucky. I've had just the opposite, more is getting past the filters that SBC wished on us when they merged ADSL with Yahoo. I've had to modify my local message rules to blast some of them.
