I think it is something that MS is screwing with,as I have gotten that same box about 15 times in the last day or so.Never have been getting it before,am getting it now like when I go to download a small gif,or things like that.I suppose it can be uninstalled ok,but not sure that would cure the problem. When it happens on mine it goes to the homepage grrrrrrr.Maybe they will find the problem and fix if they get enough reports,Tuff

Microsoft has come to the realization that small crashes don't get reported to tech service, therefore, problems in code are not being repaired. They hope that enough people will allow the mentioned error reports to be sent so they can identify problem areas. The problem is that most folks find the dialog box annoying and either click don't send or disable the error reporting mechanism.

For those who get the error box many times each day, there is a problem that should be investigated. I've seen the message only twice on my own system.

Steve, I'm pleased to say that that's twice more than I've seen it in IE. None, nada (knock on wood!).

However, a similar box pops up every time anything 'odd' happens in Win XP.

Yep, it's a new feature they put into IE6, and the XP operating system. So far, I've been sending in those reports. Hey, if the feedback helps, I'm all for it.

I had the 'error reporting' popup when I had IE 5.5...have IE 6 and it has never popped up at all.
When it did pop up in IE 5.5, I would let it do its' thing, but always wondered if the data was just filed away (no pun intended)and never compiled into a database for errors for programmers/techs to do something with.

I had forgot where that was until just now.Go to Start/Run/Msconfig/then uncheck LoadQM.That is the component that causes the popup, but as others have mentioned it may help MS to identify and fix problems,Tuff

Go into the Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs, scroll down to Internet Explorer Error Reporting and uninstall it. At least that's where it's located on my Windows 98SE IE 5.01SP1. Hope this helps.
