"Cursor XP ... got a slight problem."
Wed Jan-19-05 02:40 AM by _Chewy_

I've been using a little proggie called Cursor XP which changes the standard ugly windows cursors and it works great with W2K. Or it used to. After my recent clean install, I now have a small problem which only happens w/ my Admin Account.

As you can see from the screenshot below, the shot is taken just before I applied the new cursor settings. The cursors change just fine, but if reboot the system or log off my Admin account, the settings always revert back to the standard windows cursors. By contrast, with my Power User account, i can reboot/ or log off as many times as I wish and any theme that I choose will remain applied.

I'm not sure if this requires a reigstry fix, but I've looked in settings for the software and there doesn't seem to be an obvious answer for a fix.

Well geeze Shelly, being the computer expert that you are i expected something better from you. Something that would actually help solve the problem.

And of course there's always L'il Joe - in all the time i've been browsing this forum, I don't expect anything better.

Expect nothing - be happy with any response you get. If not happy with a response, perhaps there's a better forum somewhere to ask your question.

And the cursors are FUGLY!!! LOL

Jim.

Seems like you're the one that needs to grow up a bit. Find a post where I ever once mentioned I was vying for a moderator's job or even mentioned that I desired to be one. Nothing like posting more BS on top of more BS.

Of couse riding on the coat-tails of certain respected members here, I'm sure no one would dare accuse you of doing such a thing.

I had a similar problem, though 'twas with sounds reverting to default. Windows Help notes that, in addition to the expected visual effects (Desktop Background, Position, Color, Icons, Screen Saver, buttons, and Font size) a theme also includes mouse pointers and sound events. Therefore when you reboot, your computer loads your theme including the default pointers and sounds.

The solution is to create, select and save your mouse theme, your sounds theme, and then save the total experience you wish to have as a theme in Display Properties.

The great thing about this "master theme" is that when Windows forgets a part of your theme (and it will) you only have to go to Display Properties and refresh your theme by selecting it and clicking on "Apply" and all of your theme will return.

Happy pointing. And I don't think your chosen pointers are that ugly.

Sloth is the mother of invention. Necessity is merely a mother...

I just found the programs executable file, I think i'll try to place that in the startup folder and see if that works. If not, then i'll try your suggestion.

I have to do the same thing as ttterk does. I just noticed I lost my inverted large pointer AGAIN. I think it is a Windows thing because I put that in my Theme. I use StyleXP and never loose that theme just what I add to it.
