I have made slide shows with Win Media and Kodak software.I would like to make some with a music background .I have nero 5.5 as well .Can anyone give me a step by step process on how to do this.I looked at the listing of freeware in an earlier post and one of the features stated for "My Album" was that capability.I prefer not to add another program that may conflict with others(Been there and am just beginning to cope.)I am using Win XP Home w SP2.Any and all suggestions will be appreciated.

I agree with jme that Photo Story is very good and makes excellent shows. The pan-zoom effect it offers is outstanding. It produces better quality shows than Movie Maker2 if you are using still photos and producing a wmv file. There are so many variables. The files are large if you are sending them via email. A Photo Story wmv video I made is 1 min/20 sec. with about 15 photos and an mp3 music file..... almost 4MB. I use high quality photos. If you are burning the file to a CD, the file size is not so important. I prefer to make SVCDs (or DVD if you have a DVD burner) to play on my standalone TV-DVD player. You can use PhotoStory and Movie Maker for that, but must have a software program to finish the job. Maybe Nero has this capability. There are also many programs that produce an exe file from pictures, transitions and music. One of the most popular is Pictures to Exe (not free). Xatshow is another popular one and offers a free version that has some limitations (no music). The free PhotoStory program requires that you update to WMP10. MovieMaker2 is also a free download and worth the update from the version that comes with XP.

Thank you all for the suggestions.I do not have a DVD writer(just a player) so it will be made on a CD writer.Do any of reccomended show how much space you have as you progress or can you prepare your "story and music" and see if it fits before burning it? Has anyone tried the one Ropera had in the list of freebies?
