I have someone who is missing "iravclcx.dll" which appears to be either a Norton Live Advisor or Update file . I found a place for her to download it but would like to know which directory(folder) it belongs in. Anyone that has this file would you please tell me where it belongs. I don't know which version of Norton she has. Thanks in advance.

The file name is spelled correctly and here is the error message she is getting. C:\windows\profiles\All users\Application Data\Symantec\Live Updates\Downloads\EXItem75\LRSHL108.exe Cannot find a necessary file "iravclcx.dll
I downloaded it on my computer and it is iravclcx.dll Application extension, 212kb,version 1.0.0.670, LCX Manager Symantec Corp., Compiled date: 11/02/99 Product Name: Live Advisor

You should ask Symantec about your problem on their free tech board. Their techs will help you fix it. It takes a few steps but this page will lead you there. http://www.symantec.com/techsupp/consumer.html

I agree...I was wondering if it could be part of that virus/worm that takes over the Antivirus software. Female intuition? Or am I off-base with that? I did a complete check in all of Symantec's files on my system and daughter's and that doesn't even show up at all.

If Tufenuf downloaded the replacement dll from a trustworthy source, it is probably part of an update that is referenced inside a Norton index file. If it is from an older update, it is possible that none of us will find the exact same file.
On the other hand, if the file was obtained from a questionable site or somebody else's computer, it certainly could be a trojan.
Thanks for eveyones advice. As soon as my friend gets back to me I will instruct her to run a full virus scan and give me the full version number of her Norton Antivirus. The file I downloaded was clean(double scanned it with both my antivirus programs) and is a legit Norton file. As Steve stated it's probably from Norton 4 or 5 that's why none of us have the file. Thanks again and I'll post back if I get the problem resolved or not. Happy Holidays to all.
