""Other Devices" with yellow question mark in Device Mgr"
You may remember my posting about being unable to install my Canon N656U scanner a couple of weeks ago. It must have been the scanner b/c I acquired another N656U (which arrived with a broken installation CD!) installed it; used the downloaded XP driver and it works fine.
Device Mgr shows the Canon. But there is a category headed "Other Devices" with yellow question mark; sub-category "USB Device" also with question mark. Windows informed me that a mass storage USB device had been selected for (safe) removal, but the device hasn't been removed.(??) I've been using (and "safely" removing) my jump drive for weeks. Could Windows be referring to the jump drive? What other devices require Windows'ermission to be removed? I'm paranoid about just summarily removing this unknown device. I cannot find out what or where it is, other than "Location 0." Windows also msays the drivers fot this device haven't been installed.
The jump drive is a generic that has "Sky Media" assocuated with it when Windows deigns to identify it.

A flagged device is useless to you. Delete it and reboot, Windows will redetect it and give you the oportunity to unstall the drivers, if the drivers do not already exist in Windows.
