"My computer is running but the screen is blank"

Hey.

I just purchased parts for a new computer i am assembling. I have all the parts, and put everything together just like it's supposeed to go, but when i turn it on, the fans spin, the cd and hd spins, but the monitor does nothing. The little green light at the bottom flashes as if there was no input to the monitor. Help???

Apparently not.

Can you hear hard drive activity other than it spinning, can you hear it actually booting?

Make sure your monitor connections are tight. Try reseating your video card.

i checked all the connections, they are all right(i think)

the whirring sound is comming from either the cd or the hd im not sure. there was no room on the mobo for the power led so i had to leave it off. Is that right? cause it looked like this:

oo
oo
oo
oo
o

and the power led is supposed to go here:

ox
ox
oo
oo
o

but the power switch goes here:

oo
oo
ox
ox
o

and the power led is 3 pins long... where should it go?

butanyway any help would be great. thanks

and what do you mean by reseating the video card?

Physically remove the card and re-insert it in the slot making sure it is firmly in place. Is it an AGP or PCI card? If PCI, it should be in the PCI slot next to the AGP slot.
