Is multisession considered safe and reliable? I typically wait until I have enough data for a full disc and then burn Disc-At-Once.

Maybe I'm confusing multisession with CD packet-writing, but in any case I'd like to hear the straight story in this thread.

With packet writing, you can add and remove files like a big floppy drive to RW media. with multisession you are continuously adding files until your R media is full. That is why I really like Ashampoo because you don't need to go through any multisession steps, it just asks if you want to add more files (at least in burning studio 8). http://www.download.com/Ashampoo-Burning-Studio-Free/3000-2646_4-10776287.html

If you subscribe to their email you will get a free offer for Burning Studio 2008, and eventually an offer for Burning studio 8 for $9.99. They don't bug you to death with email and it's worth it for the programs.
