Hello all,new to forum.I have a nforce4sli motherboard, amd 4000 2.4 ghz,.It has a geo force 6200 tc 128 mb ddr pin128 tc card in it.I would like to upgrade as high as possible a card.It also has 1 gig of ram set up in dual channel mode.going to boost that to.any help or advise will be appreciated. joe
I have an nForce 4 based system with a Socket 939 FX-60 processor clocked at 2.8 GHz. It is nearly equivalent to an Athlon 64 X2 5600+ and does reasonably well with my Nvidia 8800 GT 512 MB card which is nearly identical in performance to the 9800 GT.
Be sure to uninstall the previous drivers when you swap cards.
Be advised the Nvidia 9800 GT requires a six-pin auxiliary power connector. You should verify your power supply has such a connector. Speaking of which, what is the brand and model/power rating of your power supply?

Thank you for your reply.Brand looks like a logisys, model?total power 330watts,max output480 watts. Is 6 pin your talking about the same as what the power source is hooked into? joey

mostly gaming.I have one game ,medieval 2 total war you can play around looking at the map and such but when you wont to play the battle itself its choppier than crap.Plus games nowadays are getting to the point to where you have to upgrade some if you want to play them,at least thats the way I see it.I could be wrong(wont be the first time)Im just looking for an affordable upgrade in the vc departmentNot to knowledge in the computer department but learn quick. joey
It is borderline. The unit can only handle a total of 16 amps on the single 12 volt rail and lacks a six-pin connector. Six-pin adapters are available but if this is your power supply, you should consider something better.
An online power supply configurator is referenced here.
