" Drive Backup 9.0 Professional + the free migration tool"
Is anyone familiar with this program? ( Drive Backup 9.0 Professional + the free migration tool, Adaptive Restore for $39.95 instead of $69.95). It's description says your images can be migrated to different hardware. I've been using Acronis, but this is interesting. I have a stubborn wife who would rather use a crappy failing computer, than loose her save games from "Real Games".

If I remember correctly, Macrium doesn't have the ability to do a "Bare Metal Restore" (aka: Adaptive Restore). This is also true of Acronis True Image HOME, but True Image Echo Workstation and Acronis Backup & Recovery, which I believe replaced the "Echo" series have this ability as does Storagecraft ShadowProtect and this Paragon Drive Backup 9 Pro. All others, and I'm open to correction, are only able to restore an image to the original machine from which the backup image was created.

I went ahead and purchased Drive Backup 9.0 Professional. I have to say that it seems to be a very highly polished program. I ran a backup to an external drive via firewire and it took about an hour. So far it looks like it might be a replacement for Acronis. I'll post back when I have more detailed information.

I ended up leaving the Backup Pro on my Wife's computer and got the Paragon Hard Disk Manager 2009 Suit. This is the type of program I guess Powerquest would have developed if they hadn't been gobbled up by Symantec. It's quite a bit more than Partition Magic and Drive image ever was, including a defrag utility, full backup options, cloning and partition recovery. The great thing about it is that the full program runs from the boot CD. It loads, ejects the boot CD, and continues to run the full program for all operations. I have already used it to backup my Win7 computer.
