"ZoneAlarm system tray icon"
Sun Mar-31-02 05:52 AM

For some strange reason, my ZA (latest free version) system try icon has disappeared and I cannot get to re-appear. I tried re-booting, but it still will not show up. I'm running WinXP. Any ideas? I know ZA is running, but the tray icon is not showing. (And I do NOT have the "Hide inactive icons" feature of XP enabled.)

Thanks.

EDIT: Well, I tried uninstalling and re-installing ZA, now ZA will not remember any of the proggies that I try to tell it can always access the internet. I can tell it to always allow certain apps to access the internet, but if i re-boot it doesn't remember those apps and prompts me again.

Help!!

This is the only bug that I have xperienced with XP Pro so far! Various objects in the Tool Tray do not show, even though they are running. The only object not affected so far is the clock.

What I do is open up the 'missing' object from the Start Menu. That seems to get the icon back in the Tool Tray most of the time.

Thanks, JP. I tried that too no avail. I recalled that I once seemed to have a conflict between ZA and GoBack, so I just completely uninstalled GoBack, then uninstalled ZA, then re-installed ZA, then re-installed GoBack. All seems to be working fine now. Go figure!!

I have always used ZAP. Tried Outpost and went back to ZAF. Now it appears in the tray, but after every restart it does'nt remember any of the settings, IE etc and shows me the messages all over. Anyone have suggestions. Actually Otpost was not bad except for the RPC Port left open.
