It's that time of year. Time for the Annual Fundraiser. As you may or may not know, a site such as PCQandA requires a bit of money to run. We're looking to raise $400 to cover our annual costs.
If you'd rather send a check or a money order (in US Dollars -- sorry, but we can't accept International Money Orders at this time), make it out to Jason Levine and click here for sending instructions (and to send a notification to me that your check is on its way):
Be sure to print out the page that results to include with your check/money order. It will help me identify who the donation comes from. (Otherwise, I can't send a thank you e-mail.)
Curious just how close we are to our goal? Check out the top of this page for the most up-to-date figure. (Payments are added to the total manually, so don't expect the figure to update the minute you make a payment.)
Thanks to everyone who has donated so far. Less than one week in and we're already over halfway there! Even if you can't donate much, please donate something. Every little bit helps and 100% of the money donated goes to run PCQandA.
We're two weeks in and have collected $229 of the $400 we need. We're at 57% now, but donations have slowed down. We've only had 10 donations so far. I know times can be tough, but even a $5 donation can help us out. Let's see if we can get to our goal before another two weeks pass.
Four short years ago Jason took us from a hosting service that cost around $2000 a year to the current host that costs about $400. That's 1/5 of what it used to cost.
But yet it's been more than 2 weeks and we still haven't met the $400 goal.
What's up with that????
It's probably safe to say that at the old annual cost, PCQandA would be long gone - just a nice memory of our early PC days.
But it's not gone. We're still here thanks to Jason.
Ten members have contributed more than half of the goal. If no additional donations are made, in about 7 months PCQandA will be gone. .Or, Jason could decide right now that he's had enough, refund the money donated so far, and close down PCQandA immediately - FOREVER.
In my opinion, the goal should have been met in about a week.
Are those members who haven't contributed waiting for Shelly to beg, plead, and cajole them before donating? Well, Shelly's apparently not going to do that this time. You're on your own to find a reason to contribute. Fortunately that shouldn't be difficult.
No one can reasonably expect Jason to make up for any shortfall with his own money.

(sound of crickets chirping...)
Nobody wants to post during fund raising time because they think that if they post anything, they will be obligated to contribute. Our society has become too accustomed to getting things for free, or at least the perception of free. We get free software, free shipping, super-sizing our McMeal, cash back bonuses or airline miles on our credit cards, etc. But somehow, somewhere, we or someone else pays for these things.
Since PCQandA isn't a multi-billion dollar global mega-corporation, we need your help to keep this website going. It would be nice if we had just a few people to pay the whole bill, but it would be even better if everyone that frequents this site, whether they post or just read, to pitch in a few bucks.
You know who you are, click the link to donate!
Behind every good computer... is a jumble of wires 'n stuff.
As we approach the one month mark in our fundraiser, we're within $50 of our goal. The donations are starting to slow, but I'm confident we can make it. Remember, even a $5 donation helps and 100% of the funds we collect go towards running PCQandA.
