Ok, I will make this as easy as I can . I am putting a SSD in my friends dell 3567 laptop. My OS for win 10 for new installations is on a micro sd card inserted into an Usb adaptor. I have changed out 3 SSD's in laptops in the last 2 yrs and had no issues. The SSD is formatted and OS installed perfectly. All went well. I set it up, updates installed and ready to go. ALMOST. So when I took the usb out , of course it will not boot up useing the SSD. I KNOW when I downloaded OS from USB, I had to enable Legacy, turn off secure boot and turn off PPT as well. So please help e! How do I get the dang ssd to appear in bios so I can chose it!! The only thing there is Windows boot manager. I am ready to scream. Thanks. I am so glad to see you all are still here!! Kitten
I think you should just start over and see what happens. You don't have anything but Windows on the new SSD, do you? Just try installing Windows 10 from your flash drive again. Make sure you choose Custom Install and delete all the partitions that were created on the SSD before you proceed with the new install.
Behind every good computer... is a jumble of wires 'n stuff.
I am going to start over and delete the partitions it set up. I do not have a dvd just a micro sd card in an adaptor usb.
Ok, so I had chenged the folowing - turned on legacy, turn decure boot off. and turn ppt off. as I have done before. I have now turned them all on as it was. I will do one time boot of the USB.
After it install is THERE anything I need to change in bios for it to boot to the New ssd???
So i have installed OS again- Should it automatically boot from SDD now?? That seems to be where the stupid thing screws up.
SO I did another clean install from USB OS with all settings default. DId one time boot. WEnt well, booted, I did updates. Restarted a few times to Windows. Thought ok,,, here we go... NOPE restart and DELL log just sits there!!
Ok, well it now boots up everytime but takes almost a minute. Seems to be the best I can do. I will have to leave it for now. Now I have to go back into it and see why it will not detect the cd rom. UUGGHH.
