"laptop question"

I need to find a new LT for my wife. It needs to have a 15" screen & an I5 processor.

The hard part is, it can't have any metal on either the KB or around the screen because my wife is allergic to all the metal surfaces.

I have a Surface Pro that is all plastic, but the larger screen Surface laptop has metal on the KB (we already bought one & returned it)

Before all this covid s*** I would have just gone to BestBuy & looked at all of them. Right now, we can't do that as my wife already has CPD & if she got the virus it would be a death sentence for her.

It shouldn't be hard to find what you are looking for. Almost all the laptops that I work on have a 100% plastic housing. Even if some of the trim looks like shiny metal, it's probably just plastic.

Here's an example I found with a quick browse of the Dell website, i5 and 15.6" screen.

Behind every good computer... is a jumble of wires 'n stuff.

Actually, it's almost impossible to find what I'm looking for.

I have three laptops here that I would have sworn where 100% plastic but on closer inspection they all had either a metal film over the KB or the keys where capped with metal etc.

I just called a local computer store where the owners are friends of mine & had her check every one of the many computers they had on display. She had told me earlier when I asked that "I'm not really sure, but I think a lot of our laptops are all plastic".

This morning she told me "well on very close inspection I realized that only the very cheap models which I know you don't want are all plastic."

I recently bought my mother a new HP LT & she said it was all plastic. I went & looked at it yesterday & even though it certainly looks/feels like plastic on very close inspection it isn't.

This is not something 99 out of 100 people would be bothered by or even notice, but my wife has some very serious medical conditions that we constantly have to work around.

I'd be interested to see some pictures of the external metal parts you are finding on these laptops. I'm very sure that almost all keyboard caps are plastic as are most other external parts. But if your wife is that sensitive, why not use an external keyboard and mouse? It should be easy to find those with all plastic external parts.

Behind every good computer... is a jumble of wires 'n stuff.
