"My computer won't recognize my Hard drives"
Fri Dec-28-01 07:39 AM

I can't get going cause of this. First ime to turn on my new custom built PC and can't get anywhere cause tha da*# bios don't detect my hard drives in the Raid slots or the normal ones. Will recognize my CDRW just fine as a master but totally ignores my HDD's. Heres the system.

ASUS A7V133 MOBE w/ ob raid and audio
AMD 1.2G 266 CPU with HSF
SONY CDRW
Teac floppy
WD 60G 5400 HDD x 2
ANTEC 1030 case w 300W PS
ASUS V8200 Deluxe GForce 3 Vid card

And a couple PS's to this. My FD light stays on all the time even though I have turned the cable around. One way it is off and the other it is on. When I did my last attempt at booting the bios detected my CPU as a 900M when the first three attempts gave me the true 1.2 reading. Please help as this is my first build ever and I am totally lost. Thank you all in advance.

First off, your Primary HDD must be plugged onto the mainboard's channel one (1) plug-in and jumpered (on back of the drive) as the Primary Master (or Select in some cases), plugged onto the cable end farthest from the mainboard. It sounds like you have plugged the HDDs onto the channel two (2) plug-in on the mainboard, that's why the CDROM is detected and not the HDDs. Any other HDD in that system (one more is all) must be on that same channel one (Primary line) in the middle of the cable and jumpered as the Primary Slave. It often takes a 32 inch IDE cable to install 2 HDDs. Master, Slave, and Jumper are the key words.

As for the Bios, if you have the HDD(s) plugged in and jumpered correctly all you need do is go into the Bios' CMOS Setup and look at the bottom of the screen and press the appropriate key to load the Default Settings, then exit saving changes.

And as to the Floppy light being on either the drive is no good, the plugs aren't seated properly and/or the Bios settings are not default.

information here. http://www.pcnineoneone.com/dcforum/computer/30115.html

Crazy baby. Give more information. What is on what channel, jumpered as what.
When I had the BIOS not detect a HD or other HD problems it has always been traced back to a jumper problem. You can put them in any configuration you want (as long as the computer likes it that way ).

OK here it is Myk. Sorry for the lack of info as I am still learning. Hooked up originally in a RAID array on seperate channels and both as masters on my ultra IDE channel. When that didn't work I unhoooked the CDRW and attached 1 disk to the primary IDE connector. Made sure all cabled were attached and properly seated and still no go. Heard somwhere that I might have to manually enter in the cyliders etc. cause the bios might not do an auto detect but haven't got that far yet. Both drives are set to master on there own channels on the Ultra Raid connectors. Am I wrong with this?

Also make sure you have the Raid enabled in your bios. It might be in Advanced Bios Features. I don't have the same board but that is where mine is. You'll see it when you are booting up if it is enabled.

Maggie. It is automatically enabled for first boot up but when it goes to search for drives it can't detect them to set them up so it says bye bye to me. Thanks for the help.

Rotate the cable on the Floppy to where the light is off. When it is on all the time the cable is backwards. If you have just one floppy it must use the end connector after the twist.

for the hard drives, attach the ribbon cable so that the color striped edge is nearest the power connector. The end that connects to the board must have the striped edge to the pin #1 side of the connection, (It should be marked on the board). If you have 80 wire cables, the master drive on each cable must go to the black end connector, the Slave drive to the middle gray connector and the blue connector to the motherboard. Make sure the drives are all jumpered correctly for master or slave, most drives have the jumper diagram printed on the label. If you have Western Digital drives, they have a special jumper position if they are the only drive on the cable. It is usually best to connect the hard drives to the regular IDE connectors on the motherboard to partition and format them. They can then be moved to RAID connectors if you wish. Hope this helps.

Edit: ignore answer #1 its all wrong information.

Shelly. Do I have to change the jumpers if I install both on the primary and secondary ide channels? I.E. one as master and the other as slave or just leave them jumpered for their own channel?

Not sure what you mean, but there can only be one master on a channel and one slave on a channel. If only one drive is connected to a channel, it must be the master.

I am hooking them up on seperate channels as masters. Is that O.K. for a format and to get them going? After your reply I shall continue to hook it up to power and see what I see and than come back and report. Should only take about 15 - 20 minutes. And do I need the CDRW hooked up if so than I will have to put both HD's on one channel and do the slave/master thing you told me about. THanks for working with me.

Maggie. Sorry for the confusion. I do have a RAID board with 4 channels. Two IDE and two Ultra IDE for the RAID. Thanks again. I am probably confusing you all and I am sorry as this is my very first build. I'll try to get better I promise.

I'm back and more lost than ever. PC is now recognizing the drives in the IDE slots after I set the JP13,14 from RAID to ATA100 but don't know what to do from there. How do I set them up. PS the parameters that the BIOS has are way differant than what WD says they are at there site. Is this a problem? WHere do I go from here? Thanks.

Take a look at his How to build a PC article. Thought this may help you a little. It has some good visuals and is very staightforward. There may be something in the article you may have overlooked.

What is the difference? If you know what speed they are set them yourself. If I remember correctly you said they were ATA33 or ultraATA33? Are you on the raid channels now?

He said his were 5400RPM. These are newer drives they are talking about. I hope not, enough of a hassle being a first time builder without that happening.

Dear Maggie, Thank you for hanging out. Have been trying to figure it out for the last hour and came up with this result. Put the jumpers on the ATA100 side and finally was able to configure my RAID array. YEAH! Next is the OS install and all the drivers. Will be getting a switch box before that so I can hang here and do it at the same time. My drives are 5400 RPM at 60G each but my board is an ASUS A7V133 and it must just have bad instructions with it as I had to put the jumpers backwards from what they told me (jumpers were supposed to go on the RAID0 side to start the fast track build). Will be back tommorow night to do the rest. Any hints on installing WINXP would help. I am glad that I have quick change bays in my case or I would be in it all night. Am also glad I have you guys to turn to cause this is scary. Have close to $2000 tied up in this thing right now and would hate to mess it up beyond repair. Thanks again for your help. Will see you tommorow.

Make sure and go into the bios and boot from CDROM first let XP start choose to install and let it do it's thing. I had it go with NTFS. Make sure that Windows has your raid controller drivers before you start. you should have them on the XP CD. If not you'll have to press F6 at the beginning of setup and about 5 minutes later it will ask for the floppy with the drivers on it. XP has most of the drivers if it doesn't it will give you some benign message about the hard drive OOPS. Just start over and hit F6 and all will be well. Good luck maybe someone will come along with that board and tell you more.

Happy to see you got it working! persistance is what counts.

Installing XP is a piece of cake. Just go into your BIOS after you partition the drives the way you want them, and set your CD-ROM as the first boot device. Put the XP CD in thedrive and shut down. Reboot and XP will begin the setup routine, select install from the choices, and off you go.

Hello all ,I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack! Will be playing with it again tonight although I went and got a switch so I could put both PC's on my moniter, etc. like Shelly suggested. Thank you. Let me start by asking if I need to format the disks or will XP do that for me on initial install like 98 does? YOu guys are the best. I am possitive that I will have this thing up and running in no time with your guidance and will be able to contribute more to this forum because of my experience. Thank you in advance and also after the fact and all points in between. It's Friday so I am doing all this at a leisurly pace. Will first be replacing my PS and hooking up the switch, that is right after I feed the children. So I will be seeing you all soon, or should I say talking to you. Thanks again.

Had a couple of bent pins when I tried to install connector to main PC that was my fault. Fixed it and am doing just fine thank you. Pins were for Vid card on old PC FYI. This is the fun of being new to this excitement. May seem lame but want to keep you all posted on how it is going as you have helped me so much and want to return the favor in some small way. OS going in now. Are we ready; it is the dreaded XP system. Let's not all die now cause I am the only one that has the right to do that if it crashes. O.K.?

I don't know what that means. Did you let it go? I have mine set on Raid1 mirrored so when I had the HD crash it was my boot drive. Grogan finally came up with the right links to show me how to get the mirrored drive to boot so I lost nothing but time and a bunch of hair. I'd pretty much done everything wrong but it ended up working!! I was in Windows 2000 at the time.
Make sure and get up to Windows update when your done. 16mb. of fixes and drivers that you will need.

I'm not sure I understand. I looked back and can't tell how you set up your drives (got a liitle lost). If you can tell me how you have your drives connected NOW, I might be able to see what's going on.

O.K. I think I'm with you now. Fill in the blanks for me.

Motherboard with 4 connections for IDE devices.

IDE1 - ?
IDE2 - ?
IDE3 - HDD (Raid)
IDE4 - HDD (Raid)

Am I on the right track?

Good. Got a clearer picture now. Have you set your Bios correctly? I don't use or know how to setup Raid but you said Grogan helped you set it up. I am just wondering if somehow you have lost the Raid configuration in your Bios because you said you had some strange numbers. The "invalid disk" message is what is throwing me.

Did it go through some kind of set up at all? Go up to ASUS website and see if there are any issues with the Bios or Onboard Raid Controller you have on that motherboard. They might have a driver upgrade you could download for the Raid. It would have to be extracted to a floppy. Then you would have to hit F6 at the beginning of setup for Windows to recognize it. You never did say what kind of controller you have on there.

Crazy,
If you have the harddrives hooked up alone,(single drive on a cable)and they are Western Digital, then you must set the jumpers as single drive. Normally this means set to factory neutral, or if you don't remember where neutral is, just remove the jumpers and save them for later. Trust me!

OK Crazy, I found your board and I am going to do some surfing on your Raid setup to see what I can find. Note the following from the linked article.

The setup is easy enough to install the hard drives and setup a RAID 0 array, however. A jumper needs to be changed, and the Promise BIOS is initiated the first time two hard drives are connected to the IDE channels 3 and 4. A simple menu Promise Bios option or two and you are on your way.

Note what I highlighted. I'll see what I can find about what jumper has to be changed and any other info I can to get you going.

The full article from AMDmb:

I think there's a Promise controller patch from Asus that has to be installed to fix your problem.

Here's an excerpt from another forum.
------
it went into windows setup, said to press F6, I did, says it could not find mass storage devices, press s, pressed s, please insert the disk labeled manufacturer-supplied hardware support disk into drive A. What disk?
---------
Ok, unfortunately ASUS doesn't provide the disk for you. You will have to create it.

You can download the file (promisxp.exe) from here...ftp://ftp.asus.com/pub/asus/misc/ide/promisxp.exe .

Once you have it downloaded, run it. Stick a freshly formatted floppy into the floppy drive and then type A:\ in to the little white box just under the words Extract to.

Then push Extract to create the hardware support disk.

Start the XP install again and when asked to please insert the disk labeled manufacturer-supplied hardware support disk into drive A, do so, which should fix the controller problem and allow the drives to be recognized.
----------

NytOwl

Edit: Here's a jumper note,
Note: A7V133 must set "JP13 as 1-2, JP14 as 2-3" to install RAID mode.

I didn't realize it didn't come with that floppy. That has got to be it. The instructions don't mention needing a floppy to install on 2000. Just to go in and update the drivers once you have installed. I think the ASUS site is a nightmare I had a heck of a time finding the manual. So I figured that XP propably had the drivers for the Promise Controller. I liked their old site better can't even find my link for my other computer an ASUS P5AB. Oh well glad you brought that up.

I looked for a good while couldn't find his specs. A simple search would be welcome.

So I figured that XP propably had the drivers for the Promise Controller.

That's the part I don't understand. His board is old enough to be detected unless he has an upgraded version which I doubt. Even Asus upgrades it's drivers after the release of a motherboard so it's difficult to blame XP. I have a Promise PCI controller card and it was detected.

Hi Maggie,

Asus seems to be dropping the ball quite often anymore.
I read somewhere that the new site has eliminated a lot of support for older products.

The next thing C_B is going to need is the Via 4-in-1 drivers and I think the latest ones I saw are ver. 4.28 at Asus.

Via has newer than that but I would stay with what Asus has until the system is running good.

Nytowl,
I haven't put a VIA anything on this machine since windows 2000SP2. XP has been running without those also. I think XP has everything built into the OS. I'm not going to mess with this install so far everything is working!! I had to go to a newer bios,I am still recovering from the adrenalin rush. Everything went fine but had to really talk myself into that.

Maggie,

Good point and good decision. A lot of people have gotten in trouble with the old knee jerk reaction (install OS, install 4 in 1 drivers) and have paid a price. The XP 4 in 1 drivers are still sufficient for most mobos unless it is a brand new mobo and the drivers are specifically called for.

A far as your Bios, I feel your pain. I'm lucky there is nothing I need to warrent a flash as I do not relish the idea. I've done so on a couple of my older boards but you still go through a good sweating period.

I'm sure he was referring to Windows ME. That is what she was asking about. NytOwl I lurk a bunch at www.icrontic.com in their forum. I haven't seen to many people have luck with the 4n1's and the NT based systems. I don't OC but there are a bunch that do. They are always benchmarking everything. I found that place when I was looking for a motherboard. I ultimately bought an Abit KT7A-Raid and have been happy that I did. PC911 is still the best place for all around help, but these guys know the VIA boards real well and are willing to help anyone.

CG,

I just d/l'd the drivers and they are Windows drivers. In otherwords, they have to be installed within Windows and not at installation. Save them for an update to Windows.

You said you had XP installed. Why did you format?

Cause it wasn't in the RAID array I want. Decided to run the HDD's as slave and master on the ide channel to check it out. Was doing this when NytOwl piped in with the solution. Now I just have to figure out how to get this update installed on the new PC as I got to the third floppy in the copy process and one of the files don't want to play that game. Have reformatted the HD on the hew PC but will go any path you guide me to even if that is reinstalling XP and doing it that way from a CD as I do have a burner. What do you think?

Am going to learn the hard way as I have always done due to the fact that it stays in my brain longer that way.

CB,

I don't quite understand why you are persuing Raid. Your board is only capable of Raid 0 which is stripng. To be honest with you, Raid on a home PC is simply overated and not worth the effort in everyday computing. I think you are much better off just setting up your PC normally without Raid. I think you're trying to bite off too much with your first shot at building a PC. You've got a great setup as is and even though I'm an Intel guy, I sure as h*** wouldn't mind having your specs. This doesn't solve the problem of why Raid is not working, which it should, but I hope we're giving you some advice that you won't take personally but to get you going in the right direction. Try setting up with your CDs on your main IDEs and your HDDs on the Raid IDE set to normal in your Bios and then go from there and leave Raid out of the picture. Get back to us and let us know.

No stress there. Just tell me how to optimize both drives of 60G and I will bow before you as I bought them both to use with RAID 0. I want all the bang for the buck that I spent. How do I tell WINXP to use both. Yes this is one H#@* of a first time builder system but I am just a little over the edge on life and will promise you this/ all you show me will not be wasted.

Scrap the above. I will set this system up and get it running right without RAID and than figure out if Raid works better for me. The reason I built this system was to learn as was the reason I decided to roost here with you fine people. Yes I will tell you how it goes. See ya tommorow.

OK, this is the way I've got mine setup and plan to change when I need to or the situation calls for it. Obviously you can vary as you like.

HDD 1:
C: - System (XP)
D: - Backups of HHD 2

HDD 2:
E: - Pagefile
F: - Data (My Documents, My Music, My Pictures, Executables)
G: - System Backups and backup of partition D:

I use PQ's Drive Image 5.0 to do backups (images) and if you notice I have a backup of one drive on the other in case of failure. I have 2 40GB Maxtors and only have about 20% of all the data available to actually used. Plenty of room left. Give you any ideas on how to partition your's (I've got PQ Magic 7.0 to modify in the future)?

Ok, here's a thread from...
http://www.amdmb.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=79983&perpage=15&pagenumber=4

that has a solution for the controller problem.

Start with Adsol's post about half way down the page.

NytOwl

Edit: Location of MakeDisc.exe.
Download and extract promisxp.exe from ftp://ftp.asus.com/pub/asus/misc/ide/promisxp.exe into a folder on the Hdd of a working computer.
The MakeDisk.exe utility is located in the (name of folder you extracted promisxp.exe into)\Promise\RAID\Setup folder.
Run MakeDisk.exe to create the XP driver floppy.

My two bits.

Crazy - having two HDDs is a luxury. With a stripped array you've only got one. I think you're blowing it, especially with 5400 drives. If you want the best bang for the buck, set them up as masters on their own connectors, and enjoy.

Hey Vitalt, hope the new year doesn't kick your ass. I've been absorbed by my car the last few weeks. Doing some performance building, which I've never done before (I'm not doing it myself - paying a top guy to do it which I had to drive 400 miles one way for,) and of course a few little things went wrong. Been chasing that all down and got it pretty much done, but still have to do a final tuning. The weather's not being kind though, since I have to drive another 100 miles to get to a dyno for the tuning. Interesting thing about it all is that it starts and idles better than it ever has, even though the performance is obviously higher - never suspected that, but it's nice for sure.

In response to vitalt (Reply # 77)

No pics yet, but it's pretty mellow. Since you asked, I guess I'll do what the guys in the car forums do and just list stuff

Car - 2000 Civic Si (all black, no decals, no rice)

Chassis

  • Mugen non-adjustable coilovers (about a 20mm drop)
  • 19mm Neuspeed rear anti-roll bar
  • Neuspeed rear lca tie bar and upper strut bar
  • 16x7 SSR Integral wheels + 205/45 Pirelli P7000 summers (wheels an inch larger in both directions, but 2oz lighter than stock when weighed with the tire)
  • Porterfield R4s brake pads
Drivetrain
  • Clutchmasters stage 1 clutch with 8LB aluminum flywheel (50% lighter than stock)
  • Quaife torque biasing differential (a gear unit - no clutch pack - that actively distributes power to both wheels at all times)
Motor
  • Comptech header and exhaust
  • AEM cold air induction
  • Mugen ECU
  • '01 Integra Type R (ITR) cams
  • ITR intake valve springs (moved the stock intake to the exhaust - they're the same part number as the ITR exhaust)
  • ITR LMAs (Lost Motion Assembly - a spring/piston deal that the big cam lobe rides on in the vtec head)
  • Crower titanium retainers
  • ITR intake manifold
  • Hondata insulated IM gasket (call it a phenolic spacer)
  • Mugen thin head gasket (bumps compression about .4)
  • AEM adjustable fuel pressure regulator
  • Cool little fuel pressure gauge tapped into the rail
  • Apexi V-AFC (it interrupts the MAP signal so you can fool the ecu - adjustable over eight user defined points for a plus or minus fuel change on low cam and high, so 16 points all together.
Miscellaneous
  • Solo short shifter (with a ball bearing no less)
  • Prothane hard insert for rear motor mount
  • Cibie 80/100 headlight bulbs (none of that blue shit, these are basic European rally bulbs - bright and white)

So it's all pretty mellow, just factory parts, but it's surprising what a difference it makes taken together. It dynos 166hp at the wheels, which is more than at the crank in factory trim, so that's cool. If I do anything in the near term, it'll be a brake upgrade and maybe a little chassis work like a smaller front anti-roll bar and a better strut brace than the stock one. On the motor, I'd love to do some good pistons, and generally get into the bottom end, but that's so much money, I don't know. Probably end up next fall doing a basic head cleanup, better valves, and maybe shave a wee bit off the head so with the thin gasket maybe a point increase. But the smart thing is the right piston, and forget about milling the head and all, but if you want to do it right, there's so much to it, making sure the clearances and tolerances are all okay. We'll see.

Ah, a Honder kinda guy. Nice setup! I stopped upgrading my autos with my Silver 96 Prelude (Enkei wheels and Pirelli tires). I went to a 98 Acura CL with auto tranni. Thtat's what guys my age start doing. Not that we are getting old, but the sound proofing, leather heated seats, etc., start to feel like the right thing to do. I did put a spoiler on it though. My next purchase might be the new Nissan Altima V6 with 255HP and a 6 speed (maybe I haven't quite lost the itch).

I'm 46 so I think we're about the same age. This Si thing has been a long time in the planning. I've never done something like this, but always wanted to, so once before I'm too old. I love Hondas and I guess I don't have to tell you why. But the Si is special. It was only available for two years, and that B16 motor is, I think, the best motor they ever made and has only been in this country once before. There's other B series based on it, but they all have rod ratios that are at best a compromise, since they're all just stroked B16s. The B16 series is the real deal, designed from the ground up to be a high output, high rpm motor with no compromises in the context of a commercial product.

Sometimes I wonder if I shoulda gotta 'lude, slap some wheels, tires and shocks on it and be happy - about the same money. But then I snap off a 8500 rpm 3-4 shift and nah...

Well the age thing is sort of relative with me although I'll be 57 next month. The Si thing was true with the Prelude. If you recall, the top option was a Vtec high revin' son of a gun. I know what you mean about 8500rpm. When I test drove the Si version I quickly forgot the old "Qualude" moniker. The stock version I got was no slouch either. Now you want to talk about a sweet engine? The Honda V6 is about as sweet as they come. Smooth and powerful, especially when the Vtec pops in while passing on those two lane roads. Like I said you've got a sweet set up and good luck with it. I'm sure you're quite happy. Now about that Lexus GS 400 I think I'll... Oh, nevermind.

Oh yeah baby, that GS 400 might make me forget about Hondas. Maybe Alex will spot me the 50K if I'm good It's good to know I've got another 10 years before I succumb to automaticises - never had one yet.

yep been there many a time...last one of mine was a 69 mach 1 mustang.I junked everything but the block as far as the engine is concerned...its been a long time since i ran it...i get a lot of honda and other import builders where i work and seems to be popular...some of these babys really fly too....i guess im still in the dark ages there though, as i still like my multiple carbs and non computerized high compression. The hardest thing nowadays is trying to find decent fuel for them at a cheap enough price...have a good new year...and be safe driving the toy....

Well my friends are you ready to take a break from my insanity for awhile or are we enjoying the mood here? Have finally got the system up and running by going without RAID for many good reasons. Thank you NytOwl for all you research as I will be using it when I get a couple of 7200RPM drives to add to this thing and thus have 3 drives and one BIG memory block that I will probably not be able to use up till I die or something like that. I don't know. I am so happy now and it is all due to the awesome people here in this forum who just wouldn't quite even when I was ready to. If you all wish I will give you a detailed description of what I did and what I was thinking during this whole ordeal as you have all earned it. Just reply with your request. Here is a small rundown of what I did in the end.

Partitioned both disks in half put the OS on C: and will add to D: thru F: later when I get the time and energy (have been sick lately. Tis the season, huh?) The last major conflict came when I noticed my mouse wasn't working and I thougt I would be navigating through XP and the rest on this system via the KB. First I figured it was a bad connection, nope. Than I got the idea in my head that the port was bad and than, after having fixed the light in my daughter's room for the second time today, I figured to go into BIOS and change the setting on os/2 mouse from Auto to on and that did the trick. Guess the computer god's figured we didn't need any more fun tonight and shocked my brain with a moment of brilliance.

My next major task will be to set up drivers that came with the MB and Vid card and maybe update a few things along the way than install my sound card and the first game of the season which I got for Christmas from my brother-in-law. Promised him it would be the first game on it as it is such an awesome game (C&C Red Alert 2) Oh, and I understand that XP has alot of drivers so I will try not to overinstall. I will be back with questions for sure but I am sure that it will not be as drawn out as this was. Maybe I will just keep this thread going with them as it has een the starting point of a great relationship with all of you. Don't know/ do you think Al will let me go over 90 posts on a thread? Thank you all again for all you have done and know that it was not in vain. I have watched and learned and will one day be able to put back into this place what it has given me. Happy New year and may the computer god's be with each and every one of you.

Crazy

PS What is the longest IDE cable I can have as I want to hook both HDD's on their own channels as masters with CD and others as slaves and my case is like way big and I can't stretch the ones I have that far. Thanks again for all your help.

Good job CB. As Maggie suggested, Windows Update is your first stop when you get connected to the Internet. Be careful with other updates and don't install them unless they are needed (in most cases the XP drivers are actually newer) and always set a Restore point before doing so.

The maximum cable length for IDE HDDs is 18" so start doing some creative device placement. Good luck and Happy Computing.

Sonny. Thanks again for all your help and guidance. And BTW I have set my first restore point manually today as I heard that sometimes XP won't recognize it's self created ones. I'll keep you all updated through this thread (at least till Alex shuts it down ,EG, ) on everything.

CB, since you installed XP as your OS, there is no need to install the chipset drivers that came with your board. XP comes with and installs the drivers for you. If you installed the drivers that came with the board it could cause problems.

Shelly. Would it be O.K. to install PC-Cilin and hardware moniter and that extensive stuff just not the 4in1 ? Don't plan on using the video stuff though cause I think XP probably has that under control. Also have drivers for vid card, should I just let XP take care of that too as it is a GForce 3 by ASUS or just play with the extended sortware/ definately the games? Oh and one last question, can I now hook my drives up to the Ultra channels now that I have them set up as I would like to make the most of all four channels that I have? Thank you again for being here. Will keep you informed of my progress and how it all looks.

You're welcome! Actually Sonny, Maggie, and Shelly did a lot more and deserve most of the credit.

Starting out without Raid was the best thing to do. Now you can compare the difference if/when you decide to use Raid later.
