Please, show me iraqs WMD. You know, the nukes!
Yes bush lied, and people died, and are still dying in iraq.

If jerk bush stayed in Afghanistan and kept chasing usama bin laden until he was caught or killed, he would be a hero, and not a zero.

We can't leave iraq now, we are losing the war.
We can't leave iraq now, we are winning the war.

The only real hope we have for the future is that the young adults don't fall for enlistment in the military. Not coming home in a body bag should be a easy choice. Unless of course they are crack heads.

We live in interesting times, so kick back, have another 2 dollar apple and enjoy the show.

Maybe you should limit yourself to plagiarizing other people's words and posting them as your own, you seem to do that very well. Lots of practice?

When you write your own words down, they always come out wrong.

Why, whenever you submit a tidbit here, does it not reek of condescension?

Having people you know and work with called "crackheads" may be a normal occurrence and perfectly acceptable to you, it most definitely is not acceptable to me.
Defending or minimizing a slur like that says as much about you as it does about BobGuy using it in the first place.

As for any condescension, he makes it easy.
The truth is always the best defense:

Notice the similarity? Did you see any quotation marks, any attribution?

Your changing your previous Bulwer-Lyttonesque writing is appreciated, but asking negative questions or using litotes is probably not the best direction you could take.

A boring tidbit with links to even more boring stuff...

It's big of you call in now and then to point out when someone has dropped his or her pants. Otherwise, we cretins who contribute here regularly may miss the occasional event.

But, I must admit, it's comforting to know there is someone out there who is even more pedantic and egocentric than I am.

I know, I know -- I ended that sentence with a preposition but, like Churchill, I thought, "What the f**k." Consider the jerk I'm addressing.

Interesting.

Whenever you reply to No_One's banter, you always bring up the infrequency of his postings and that someone can be more of an ass than you.

Come on! You can do better than that! Retaliate!

I sorta know who I am, Whippersnapper, with all the bells and whistles and foghorns, and I need little if any direction in how I choose to do battle.

Thanks anyway. I know, in your own ubiquitous and controlling manner, you remain well intentioned. Right, little guy?

I have my standards, you just have different standards. I have no desire to lower mine.

Quote:

Sorry, but my version of Carpe Diem doesn't leave much time for that. You choose the Internet, I choose life. To each his own.
Right now, if it wasn't raining I would be out encouraging leaves to move over into the woods, and the browser on my cell phone isn't convenient for replying here.

---------------------------------------------------

"am" is a preposition? Stop now while you're behind, you make it too easy.

There is nothing wrong with ending a sentence with a preposition, I vaguely recall it being a problem if you are speaking in Latin (which might explain a lot of your screwy syntax).
You can stick it wherever you want. The preposition, I mean.

"This is the kind of impertinence up with which I shall not put."
Winston Churchill

Touché. I retire from the field, temporarily, to lick my semantic wounds.

But an aside: The next time you deign to allocate the time in your busy and important schedule to show up here, it may be nice if you do so to give someone a pat on the bum (or even to submit something original for consideration), instead of just being a smart ass who enjoys picking at the scabs of the huddled masses he trips over on his way uptown.

I'm not out to defend myself. I'm a self-promoted pedant and fair game. I'll exchange fire with you on any goddamned field any f'n time and attempt to give as well as take. (Except, if history repeats, you will retire to the sidelines for several months to observe and refresh a supercilious intellect.)

There are people here who have the courage to place their opinion in the line of fire on a daily if not hourly basis, and they are not deserving of your selective pseudo-intellectual snobbery.

You may indeed be the smartest guy around (the greatest thing since sliced bread and Nietzsche), but please stop slumming and stick around and prove it to us more than twice a year.

Is this so hard to understand?

Quote:
Sorry, but my version of Carpe Diem doesn't leave much time for that. You choose the Internet, I choose life. To each his own.

I may stay busier, that doesn't make me any important than anyone else, what it does mean the Internet is not a constant 24/7 source of entertainment for me, as it is for you. If it works for you, that is OK with me, but when did amount of time spent online become the standard to judge others?
I would assume the opposite would be true, that less time online is more normal.

Someday maybe I'll retire and sit my butt down in front of a computer 24/7 as you do, and do exactly as you suggest. You can tune in to CNN the very next day as they report my seppuku.

99% of what you post here goes by unnoticed by me, I don't care about it, it is usually meaningless. The record shows you were the instigator here as you tried to defend some indefensible babble.

Usually you like to belittle people you believe aren't up to your intellectual level, and "defend yourself" by calling people names or you label them idiots or morons, your standard methods. I prefer to step on people that like to belittle others, whenever, wherever, and as often as possible.

Quote:
you will retire to the sidelines for several months to observe and refresh a supercilious intellect.

Not several months, I deploy for 3 months at a time, if you think I would spend scarce time on the Internet in some 3rd world shithole reading your crap, you are sadly mistaken.

Supercilious intellect? Pseudo-intellectual?

This is a product of a supercilious intellect.

Lecturing to people and then admitting you\'re not sure you know what you are talking about is also a class act. That should draw rave reviews from your gullible readers, I hope you don't mind if I want my tuition back.

Facts first, lectures come second.

About other's opinions, I always try to respect their opinions, formed as a result of what they have done or learned in their respective lives, and their personal experiences. Often they are not the same as mine, but individual differences of opinion are completely normal and to be expected. You confuse your opinions with facts, they usually aren't even in the same time zone. If I know better, and I happen to read it (and care about it), you can expect a reply. Sometimes with poetry, and sometimes in your face.

And now contemplate this:
"Lazy grammar reflects lazy thinking and is intrinsically an insult to the reader."
A bit over the top, but basically true.

As I said, some of us show up here every day, or almost. Bombast, exaggeration, contradiction, egoism, pedantry, etc. I've left a large trail these past three years as my lazy butt grew wide and my mind collected dust.

Enter the self-appointed dragon slayer (stage right), Christ in the temple, the righter of all wrongs, the defender of the weak, he who separates the wheat from the chaff. Lay low all you pretenders because today he passes through your neighborhood. Briefly but with intense self-righteousness.

Give me a break!

In fact, you cruise in every now and then to drop a bomb and then scurry away to lurk in the shadows. And, since you have taken so much of your invaluable time to tarry today and search the archives for evidence of my actus reus, perhaps you can take a moment and look back in this very thread to see just where and on whom you dropped the bomb this time.

It wasn't on me, Robin Hood. It was one of those you pretend to protect.

And it would have gone barely noticed if I hadn't deliberately pointed it out. If I've done anything in my useless life to be proud of it has to be putting the finger on the likes of you, because whenever I find the likes of you I also detect the distinct odor of horse's ass.

I have encountered no one here, No One, who is unable to fend for himself or herself. We all have equal time and opportunity and it is seldom that anyone asks for surrogate protection.

My arrogant ass has been handed to me many times and, on those several occasions, I trust I've fielded it like a man. But I'll be damned if I take bullshit from the likes of you, you swaggering, sanctimonious and occasionally heard from little prick.

I guess that qualifies here as a personal insult, and I've lost Brownie points. So be it...

I don't do it for anyone else, I do it for me. It's the right thing to do. Real simple.

BobGuy deserves all he gets for the crackhead remark, it will be my left foot, and 81 Newbee's right foot. He deserves nothing but disdain from me, or anyone else with a few working brain cells.

And before you whine that I was gone for a while, I worked on Sunday, please forgive me for not replying sooner. Besides, you didn't deal very well with a brief face wash with some reality on Saturday, you derailed real fast and spewed this latest drivel.

But thanks, your opprobrium always proves my point, and keeps my moral compass tuned up.

Art Linkletter was right, drugs do the darnedest things.

Quote:
Having people you know and work with called "crackheads" may be a normal occurrence and perfectly acceptable to you, it most definitely is not acceptable to me.

Not many people on this planet really give a damn what is acceptable to you.

Quote:
I deploy for 3 months at a time.

Oh really? WOW, 3 whole months at a time. That's mighty damn big of you! Doing a 15 month deployment beneath your dignity?
Less chance of coming home in a bodybag on a 3 month deployment, brave man.

Please explain why the other schmucks, the ones you say are not doing crack, are doing 15 month tours of duty and your generosity limits you to 3 whole months? Ever think of doing a real 15 month tour of duty?

Quote:
A bomb crater blocks one lane, so they cross to the other side, where houses are blackened by fire, shops crumbled into bricks. The remains of a car bomb serve as hideous public art. Sgt. Victor Alarcon's Humvee rolls into a vast pool of knee-high brown sewage water -- the soldiers call it Lake Havasu, after the Arizona spring-break party spot -- that seeps in the doors of the vehicle and wets his boots.

"When we first got here, all the shops were open. There were women and children walking out on the street," Alarcon said this week. "The women were in Western clothing. It was our favorite street to go down because of all the hot chicks."

Iraqi women = hot chicks. give me a break.

So the troops drive around in brown sewage water soaking their boots and look at the hot iraqi chicks.

I can't think of anything more normal than that, for someone on drugs.

Maybe if there humvee didn't smell like shit they wouldn't be shot at as much.

Wow, you seem a bit perturbed that I pointed out your lack of original thought. Big deal, that wasn't the first time you did it, I'm sure it won't be the last time. Thanks for QEDing my point anyway.
There's very little reason to get upset, just act like an adult: admit your screwup, learn from your mistake, and move on with your life.
Or act like a 10 yr. old.

If this post is an example of how you think, it might be better that you continue stealing other's thoughts and words and posting them as your own, because yours keep coming out wrong.

I'm truly sorry if the Army's policy to deploy certain Reservists for 3 month rotations is unacceptable to you. The British and Canadians
have essentially the same policy, they must be equally unacceptable to you. I can get you the Surgeon General's address if you want to send him your thoughts, I am sure he will read your concerns and give them all the consideration they deserve. Before wiping his ass with your letter.

There are times like this when I wonder whether this country is really worth my time anymore. Then I realize that it's just some people in this country that aren't worth it anymore.

Hey brother,

Your presently serving in the military, why listen to that Canadien that's never served one day?...Bob Guy??? Who knows what he's ever done.

This is the kinda shit we got returning from Vietnam. Now they hide beyond the keyboard instead of protesting in the streets.

What the fuck do they know about deployments/assignments. After you join the military they put you anywhere they see fit.

Keep up the good fight.

I didn't serve in the military and I also don't play professional ice hockey for the NHL club based in Montreal. I did not meet the physical requirements of the former and the latter would, in any case, be far above any athletic ability I possess.

The last time I looked my nationality was Canadian not Canadien. I won't bother correcting your grammar, considering the much more serious intellectual challenges you face that particular peccadillo sorta pales in significance.

I don't recall disparaging anyone's service to country here or elsewhere. I certainly don't recall spitting on any of my friends when they returned from their tours in Viet Nam or including condemnatory language in any of the voluminous correspondence exchanged with them while they served in country.

Like many (returning military included) I came to despise the horror your government was perpetrating in Southeast Asia but I did not, nor do I, have a single bad word for the grunts who did and do their duty and the dirty work of survival.

And, try to get this, I speak only for myself here. I realize it's tough for one of your limited perception, but please, in future make an effort to distinguish among individuals and their diverse opinions. I understand it's much easier for persons like you to gather everyone who's politics you disagree with under one simplistic umbrella. And I also understand your reluctance to do the alternative because that requires a little thinking, an effort that (from much of the evidence gathered here) is thoroughly alien to you.

But, painful as it may be for you, why not give thinking a try, especially in the moment just before you post. You may spare yourself much embarrassment.

Then why bring it up? Grammar/spelling are just another tactic you use to insult and degrade people.

Ok, then why are you calling him names and questioning him about the amount of time he spends posting here? Just more of your cheap shots?

I'm not going to say anymore, I don't need to. No One does a damn good job of chopping you up.

Why are you being so insulting to a serviceman? Are you that disrespectful when you meet one on the street?

Probably so,I have long suspected that there are some draft dodgers posting here .and have named names. Perhaps he would like to insult me to my face,a veteran of 25 years service.

Frankly,It appears to me, that your emotions have overcome you to an extent that you can not reply without insulting the brave young men who are serving you and our country."Crackheads" indeed!!Perhaps we were lucky to have so many "crackheads" in the past so that you still live in a land where we can discuss politics even with statements like yours.Shame on you!! !Hate the war(and Bush) if you want but I consider you an EMOTIONAL NUT for your post which does not respond in any meaningful manner to my post

Opinions, honestly felt but clumsily expressed...

Christ, John, perhaps we will no longer have to storm the beaches. Isn't that what you guys fought for?

Room to think?

Surely, you and I will leave nothing more important than that.

James, my friend,I have listened to many a complaints and respected the rights to have them ,BUT when a horses ass like this guy equates his hatred of Bush to our men and women in service,I draw the line.I expected some feedback on this and plenty of Bush bashing as well.I did not reply immediately because I was too angry and not want to be like him.
Frankly I am glad he does not show where he is in his profile.(I wonder why?) I might have thought of personally sticking a "2 dollarl apple" up where his brain likely resides
Unfortunately because of the Muslim terrorists ,I suspect we will need a lot of his'crackheads" before either of us will pass on a better world . At 10:44AM this morning I became a great grandfather to Grady Ethan,
6lbs4oz,191/2 inchs long.Tiny but feisty(Mom and son doing fine.)I can't imagine what I might have said, without this helping to lower my anger.
Joy to the world !

Congratulations.

I wish you a couple of bamboo poles and some juicy nightcrawlers on hooks dipped into a quiet eddy of a stream where you can catch perch and talk to him about the stuff of life.

My grandfather did that for me and look at what a great guy I turned out to be.

I wondered what it was I liked about you.The imprint of another old man must be it.If I live long enough, james ,I want to interest him in reading and music. These are the things that most influence life and the ability to cope.Through them you can obtain what is needed to ride this bumpy road .That thing is called "common sense" and unfortunately some go through this way and never experience what it can do for them.I am sure you know what I mean.Thank you,John

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Army began its recruiting year Oct. 1 with fewer signed up for basic training than in any year since it became an all-volunteer service in 1973, a top general said Wednesday.

Gen. William S. Wallace, whose duties as commander of Army Training and Doctrine Command include management of recruiting, told reporters at the Pentagon that the historic dip will make it harder to achieve the full-year recruiting goal—after just barely reaching it in the year ended Sept. 30.

Link.

Even the diplomatic corp people don't want a assignment in the green zone in iraq.

There certainly are recruiting difficulties throughout the military, but rather than comment on it with the usual smilies, perhaps you might consider enlisting and helping to solve the problem.
In today's Army, there is a job for anyone willing to work hard.

I think I might have the perfect job for you, although I'm not sure you're fully qualified.

Do you require oats, or is pasture grass enough? Are you between 14 and 16 hands high? Do you have good occlusion?
And how much weight do you think you can carry?
