If you thought that a education from Yale or MIT was too expensive, think again. Many prominent universities are offering free courses online as part of the Open Courseware Consortium. You can download entire coursework and do the homework at home. Some courses even have a video download available so you can watch the professors give their lectures. The professors will not grade your homework & therefore you will not receive credit from from the university but considering the caliber of professors & quality of the education, it's well worth the time if you're interested.

I believe this started at MIT about five years ago. Yes, you can get great free education through this program, what you can NOT get is laboratory sessions or a degree from the institution.

I'm at the point in my life (Over 65) that a degree is meaningless. The need to learn and know has more importance to me. So these on line courses to me can be a great way to keep my main grape from creating an echo.

I thought I already pointed out the fact that the participating universities are not awarding degrees for these online courses.
You of all people, a learned person of many years *ahem*, should realize the value of a free education (even it's self taught) as I've seen you trounce on that theme many times here.
