Of course it's his second language. Dave says that he writes as he speaks, and his posts accurately reflect the voice of the majority of my friends here in Quebec whose mother tongue is French and who acquired their English, as I did my French, on the street.
While I disagree with much (almost everything) of what Dave has to say about anything, I admire his courage to engage others, others who should hold an enormous advantage, on their home field. And I empathize with him completely.
For some, like me, it is difficult to "think" and express ones self in a tongue that is foreign. We shouldn't also have to deal with unilingual fools sniggering at our sincere effort.

This is at least the second time you have equated recreational firearm use to taking someone out. Why? You seem to think all guns do bad things. They do not.
Just like I have a friend who is a police officer. I joke that I don't want to piss him off because he carries a gun. That does not necessarily imply that I think police officers shoot people for no reason.

For years I operated under the same assumption but I have come to realize they may nod their head in agreement and speak in an eloquent and spellbinding manner but there is no smile behind the eyes. In today's world money talks and I mean BIG money. Individual contributions will get a thank you letter and pleas for more money. IMHO, the way to effect change is restrictive term limits.

I agree with that - but I'm also firmly convinced that a complete cessation of ANY kind of government benefits (be it housing, food stamps, WIC, free medical care, use of educational facilities, scholarships) by ILLEGAL immigrants would do as much or more - and more quickly. ALL government forms should be printed in ENGLISH and ENGLISH ONLY (and that should apply to hospitals, also) - with no "translators" allowed to do the form-filling for the one applying for whatever it is.
In addition, police forces nationwide should be MANDATED to check immigration status at any point of contact with ANY non-English-speaker - and lack of proper documentation should be grounds for as-close-to-instant ejection from the country without exception as possible.
NONE of this will work without a secure border - that's why it's absolutely traitorous on the part of the politician's to have gutted funding for the fence AFTER it was allocated ( http://www.firesociety.com/article/19402/ ).
The government desperately does NOT want this fence built - REGARDLESS of the will of the people. Not funding the fence is the only way they can keep the floodgates open for big business' need for cheap labor.

With a few notable exceptions (not just here, but elsewhere as well), it seems as though people merely look up as the shadow from the tidal wave arises - and then they go back to sun-bathing. It's amazing, really, and has caused me to seriously wonder whether we don't DESERVE to have our nation jerked out from under us.
It seems quite a few are too STUPID to deserve what we have (but which we're rapidly losing) - our national identity and our future earning power and standard-of-living.
Truly, my heart breaks when I see what's coming for my children and grandchildren. The people who should be protecting them from this (that would be us) are failing them miserably. Pete

I come from German and Itialian ancestory. All came into this country legally. They have paid their fair share and we decendents are paying our fair share today. Problem is we now have to pay for the illegal scum streaming across our borders and change the way this country operates. "Press 1 for English", I NEVER thought I would see the day that would happen.
I have always felt if your in America learn to read, write, and speak English. Save your native tongue for when your at home or in the presence of others who speak the same language.
The children of today are going to have their hands full in the future if there is one for them, and I feel sorry for them all including my step-daughters.
Ethan has the right idea about high dollar fines for employers who hire the illegals, but I'm afraid none of us here will be around, if and when that happens.
As to the protection of our borders, bring our troops home and let them protect our borders......oh wait a minute, that's what they want to bring in troops from the UN to do....that and take away our second amendment rights so we can't even protect ourselves.

Illegal immigrants MUST GO, PERIOD. If they want to register with immigration, pay taxes and social security and become productive members of society then I'll welcome them with open arms and try and help them best I can, same as our ancestors did.
Too many American lives have been lost in wars to protect OUR FREEDOM.
Why should this country go down the tubes because of illegals coming into our country, taking over our language, our newspapers, flying their flags ABOVE the American Flag, draining our resources, and saying they have rights here too?

I agree there is another revolution brewing out here and the sooner we engage the better. It is not entirely about illegal immigration but other social issues that a large percentage of the population is getting fed up with being forced upon them with no recourse by a small minority.
I believe it's going to happen again in the United States in the future.

Come on James, the writing is on the wall and people are getting fed up with it. It might not come in our lifetime and I hope I'm long gone when it does.
I don't post much here in this forum but I read a lot of what's said and this is one issue I just can't keep my mouth shut on. I'm a Navy veteran who served from '91 to '95 and as long as I'm alive I'll be damned if I sit back and watch America go down spending itself to death on illegals
