"Simplistic but I like it."

Did anyone get this one yet?

Quote:
This was an article from the St. Petersburg Times Newspaper on Sunday.
The Business Section asked readers
for ideas on "How Would You Fix the Economy?"

I think this guy nailed it!

Dear Mr.President,

Mandatory Patriotic Retirement:

There are about 40 million people over 50 in the work force;
pay them $1 million a piece severance with stipulations:

1) They leave their jobs. Forty million job openings – Unemployment fixed.

2) They buy NEW American cars. Forty million cars ordered – Auto Industry fixed.

3) They either buy a house or pay off their mortgage - Housing Crisis fixed.

All this and it's still cheaper than the "bailout".

The only thing he nailed was an F in arithmetic or a DJC-type understanding of economics.

But you must agree, Whipper, it is simplistic.

Funny stuff...

Stupidity is always simplistic and useless. The same idiocy was going around during th Vietnamese War, make every Viet Cong a millionaire and they would have too much to risk losing in a war, and we would be saving money.

I've always been awful with math but let's see...

If you gave forty-million people one dollar each you would have forty-million dollars less in your bank account.

If you gave forty-million people one-million dollars each you would have forty-million-million dollars less in your bank account.

Wow! I'll bet even China wouldn't allow you to float a loan that big!

Somewhat less than 700 trillion billion, though, and definitely more spread out.

This would require a 40 trillion dollar giveaway! And as James says, the Chinese won't go for it!
