That's the gospel according to Fox. The truth is that during the period discussed the Republicans controlled both the Congress, and the White House, and they were able to do whatever they wanted regardless of Democratic sentiment.

Come on Shelly !That's not factual and you surely know it.Ms Palosi and Senator Reid are complaining about it now when the Dems control both houses.I knew some would try to kill the messanger (Fox) which is why I titled my post the way I did !.Forget who published it.The statements made by the "actors" are the story !!

Believe anything you want. neither you nor the republicans in congres will get far trying to demonize Pelosi and Reed. a year ago 34% of Americans identified themselves as Republican, that is now down to about 26%. Keep up the good work!

I did not try to demonize them(Not my intent).I was pointing out the error of your statement.
It looks like Reed is in trouble for the next election. His poll numbers are trending downward ! Pelosi is safe if only because of her party affiliation here in Californi The congressional elections should be very interesting this time.Much hinges on the popularity of President Obama and visual success of the spending.A lot of us are nervous about the growing size of the deficit.
One of my main reasons for voting for an individualis his his or her spending agenda .I am disappointed with both parties. The damn fools all seem to think there is a free lunch.I am expecting bad inflation but hope the effort is a success. It is counter to anything I have done in my life and in my business experience.I hope for Obamas and our future that it works !!I won't be around but my kids and even greatgrand kid will have to live with the outcome.THERE IS NO FREE LUNCH !!

No one is happy with running up huge deficits, but the alternative is worse. We could have easily slipped into a long depression. Instead things are beginning to look better. The markets are beginning to respond, some investor confidence is returning. The hardest hit banks are showing profits beyond all predictions. The refinancing of mortgages as well as the sales of homes is increasing. all as a result of the stimulus measures of both the Obama administration and the tarp funds made available in the final days of the Bush administration.

It is now looking like many of the parties helped by the stimulus measures will be paying money back to the government faster and sooner than expected.

The employment picture is still grim, but that is a lagging indicator and always the last area of the economy to improve.

Obama has had a calm and thoughtful response to the problems, and there are predictions of an early recovery beginning to appear. If those predictions are correct, and conditions improve the government will not only recover stimulus funds, they could make a handsome profit.

The Republicans know this and are in a state of panic, knowing that if in spite of their attempts to undermine the administration, the recession is ended, they will be shut out of controlling the Congress and the White House for a generation at least. They had better find a better course of action or they could go the way of the Whig Party. Currently they are totally irrelevant, and being lead by their most extreme elements. Their attempt to foment a taxpayer rebellion on tax day was a failure appearing to have only mustered about 100,000 nationwide despite the blatant promotion of the events on Fox. Obama has shown he can draw more participants than that to a single rally.

"These two entities -- Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac -- are not facing any kind of financial crisis,'' said Representative Barney Frank of Massachusetts, the ranking Democrat on the Financial Services Committee. ''The more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies, the less we will see in terms of affordable housing.''

Obama: “On all these issues, but particularly missile defense, this can be solved, but it’s important for him to give me space,”
Obama: “This is my last election. After my election I have more flexibility."
