"Young man welfare office"

A young man walked into the local welfare office to pick up his check. He marched up to the counter and said, "Hi. You know, I just HATE drawing welfare. I'd really rather have a job.." I don't like taking advantage of the system, getting something for nothing. The social worker behind the counter said "Your timing is excellent. We just got a job opening from a very wealthy old man who wants a Chauffeur and bodyguard for his beautiful daughter. You'll have to drive around in his 2011 Mercedes-Benz CL, and he will supply all of your clothes. Because of the long hours, meals will be provided. You'll also be expected to escort the daughter on her overseas holiday trips. This is rather awkward to say but you will also have, as part of your job, the assignment to satisfy her sexual urges as the daughter is in her mid-20's and has a rather strong sex drive." The guy, just plain wide-eyed, said, "You're bullshittin' me!" The social worker said, "Yeah, but... You started it."

A reasonable response from the social worker -- considering the young man's stated wish to do the responsible thing, and giving him the benefit of the doubt -- might have been, "Good for you. I only wish more people in your situation felt that way."

But I guess that expecting a reasonable response from a close-minded jackass who, much like you, sees the world populated with simple stereotypes instead of complex individuals, would be too much to hope for.

You really are a sad excuse for a human being, aren't you? It's never more evident than in what you think passes for humor.

Stereotyped, perhaps. Telegraphed, definitely. But not funny, I think not! PC status aside, it is funny. I'm surprised by your response, as you generally have a very open mind.

DJC walked in here yesterday flaunting his true colors, and they weren't his nauseatingly proprietary red, white and blue. With two "jokes" he managed to slander the poor, blacks, Muslims and persons who have Spanish as their first language.

I'll snicker as much as the next guy when someone lets off a fart in church, but I find nothing funny about racism in camouflage. And when it comes to the ignoramuses who promote insidious hate, my mind is closed and I'm proud of it.

I just don't get the comments about racism, at least as pertains to this post. There is nothing I am reading in this post by DJC that is racist, unless I am blind. There are sexist overtones, but nothing I find offensive. With some of the other posts you would be absolutely correct, but with this one....?

'With two "jokes"...'

But you're right. The first post in this thread merely presented simplistic stereotypes and an implausible scenario. But, although crude and kinda dumb, it served as a vehicle for DJC to forward his profound belief that people down on their luck are lazy, worthless, sponging liars -- and, of course, liberal. It was his earlier politically incorrect "joke" that was blatantly and ignorantly racist.

Anyhow, I found this his latest minor contribution to the fascist ethic offensive, also. But, after all, I guess offensive, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder.

I read it at face value without looking for political overtones. In that context, I found it amusing. Quite likely DJC had a political motive, as that seems to be generally the case even when he states that is not his intent. Nevertheless, we shouldn't give him credit for more than is actually there.
