It's pretty easy to confuse abuse of a social system with a true and necessary need. An awful lot of folks would have extreme difficulty getting by without programs such as this. Contrary to all to often popular opinion by many, programs such as this one are quite necessary in today's urban climate. Many folks are struggling to find a job, any job, and others are getting by and trying to raise families on wages that are ridiculously low. Hence the need for minimum wage laws to ensure abusive industries (the service industry being one of the worst) do not take advantage of people unable to defend themselves.

I'll admit some abuse exists, but it is far from prevalent.

Dave

Edit: There are also a large number of folks unable to work for many reasons. I am hoping that you weren't attempting to kick the unfortunate when they are down. I think you're a much bigger man that that.

" The animals will grow dependent on the handouts, and then they will never learn to take care of themselves. "

How true that is

There are quite a few people who can work but choose not to simply because of all the "freebies" that's handed out by the Government and paid for by all the honest hard working taxpayers in America.

Anyone who says they can't find a job isn't looking very hard. There are hundreds online every day for my area here in Ohio.

I see no way George was "kicking anyone who was down"

From the posts from our neighbors up north, I'd say cabin fever is kicking in and they have lost their sense of humor

Thanks. That's one half of my analysis validated -- the sophistry part.

Like I said, and you confirmed, it is not nice to kick those who are down or in need. There are a lot of poor, single mothers out there, due to a bastard of a 'father' who has abandoned them. Trying to raise kids on what often is a minimum wage job, along with all the other issues they are dealing with, certainly makes them valid candidates for the program mentioned. That is just one example of valid need. However, some like yourself just cannot see beyond your own individual needs. I will not post further, as I can see this is going to be pointless.

It's not pointless.....

You just have to have a sense of humor about scumbags who suck on the Government tit when they are fully able to get out and work

There's a world of difference between being able to work and being able to find a job.

That tortured construct had me scratching my head until I realized you must have intended to insert a "not" in the first half of your thought.

Then it would have read, "There's also a world of difference between not being able to work and being a lazy bastard who wants mother gov's titty." Now, unlike your Palinesque wording, that makes sense and is a sentiment I heartily agree with.

Nice to see you coming 'round to the enlightened side.

Don't for one minute think that corporate abuse of taxpayer funds is exclusive to the USA. Here in Canada it is just as rampant.
