"Yuck"

The whole region is socked under. I'll have to blow the dust out of my computer when it is over. This morning I had to clean thick mud off of my windshield to drive to work. The mud fell out of the sky. When this passes the heat will hit.

This makes it even worse for the US troops and the Iraqi civilians.

Mud doesn't get in the sky. Sand and dust get into the sky, rain falls (not much) and Mud falls out of the sky.

I know what you mean about the mud rain. I spent a year in Libya back in 1959 (after DeGaulle kicked U.S. military out of France). It rained once the whole year and that was right in the middle of a blizzard (I think they called them giblis or something like that) But it was a mess as you say.

I've never heard of that before. How long does it last for usually, or is it just a rare thing? What percentage is the liquid to solid ratio? Is it more a dirty rain or quite thick?

In Libya, it was mostly just blizzard and it lasted for 2 or 3 days depending on the direction and strength of the wind. The rain did not last as long as the blizzard. And yes, it came down in chunks of mud.
