I like that Jane. Mine was getting very messy with about 30 shortcuts so I got rid of all desktop icons and now do everything from the start menu or quick launch (allowing me to have awesome pics now)

Have your shortcuts and hide them too. Desksweeper is a small, free program that allows you to view the beauty of your desktop by clearing the icon clutter with a single click. A second click returns everything to normal.

Being able to hide your desktop icons is a great idea.

Being able to cycle your desktop wallpaper is also a great idea.

Here is a shareware idea that combines these two concepts: Wallmaster Pro! http://www.tropicalwares.com/wallpro.html

That's a good one, it's actually the wallpaper for the "Space" Desktop Theme that comes with Windows 98SE, I'll have to get it from someone who's running 98 I think...

I also have that one Jane, Noreen posted it a few months back in one of her excellent "For Stargazers" posts.

Edit: I also notice a few of the other desktops in this thread are pictures from Noreen's posts.

Sorry for the delay in replying, Jane. Been off line most of the day, due to an unexpected bout of hot sunshine - hot for Nothern England that is (75F)!!

I imported my background via Irfanview after copying it from one of Noreen's posts a few weeks ago, so I can no longer say which galaxy it is.......other than it's big

Paul

It's not really a program. I call it pseudoDesktop.

The simple explanation is:
An html file called up as a full screen popup with a 4 line script that makes the background a switch that toggles the focus so that its window is either in focus or out of focus. The trick is that when this window is out of focus it is below all other open windows, simulating the windows desktop.

More info and lots of screen shots here pseudoDesktop. These screen shots are of a different theme than notebook theme above but links and custom folders are the same just a different theme.

I've changed mine from the Omega Nebula shown before. This a photograph that I took of the tomb of King Edward II in Gloucester Cathedral, buried 1327.

Very impressive picture and the tomb is a fascinating work of art.

However, the first question that came to my mind was why buried in Gloucester and not Westminster?

EDWARD II 1307 - deposed 1327
Edward was a weak and perverted king. He had many 'favourites', Piers Gaveston being the most notorious. He was beaten by the Scots at the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314. Edward was deposed and held captive in Berkeley Castle in Gloucestershire. He was murdered, so legend has it, by having a red-hot poker thrust up his anus!

It's Serious Samurize (www.samurize.com) using the "DesktopWeather" Samurize script I found on www.deskmod.com. It gets it's info from weather.com

Maggie, I LOVE that. May I ask where you found that pic? And Noreen, ya I think I've changed mine a couple of times since I posted but that's because I use Wallmaster pro and have it change mine on every boot. Here's my latest.

Changed mine from my usual Space theme to a recent picture of my 9 month old son, Matthew. Looking into his baby blues makes me melt. My older son Jonathon, who is 8 years old, is coming to visit us for a week. This will be only the second time they have met (first was at Christmas) so we are looking foward to it.

This is the one that I'm sticking with at least for a while, just love it. It's a photograph that I took of a print of an oil painting by a British artist T.J.Somerscales (1910) called "A Barque Running Before a Gale".

It does doesn't it? Except that is looking west from the edge of a fairly large town, Rethymon.
Just behind me is a main road which runs round the outside of the town Here is pic from slightly further back, be warned though it is very large 1.8M. I loaded a selection up to my web space for a choice of wallpaper at work. http://www.mcnally.org.uk/CretanSunsets/IMGP0247.html

The holiday was relaxed though. Alternate sightseeing and beach days for 2 weeks.

From FAQs......

"How do I post images?
You can just include the imageurl ( i.e. ) in your message. Or you can also upload an image(this option has to be enabled by the administrator) by clicking on Click here to choose your file on the post form. This will launch a remote window through which you can specify the file extension and browse your disk to select the file you wish to upload. Once the file is selected, the attachment textbox will automatically be populated with the name of your uploaded file. All files are randonmly renamed. Keep in mind that there is a size limitation to file upload."
