"McNally JP - Jim McNally"
Mon May-03-04 10:15 PM by ukmitch

I'm afraid that, once more, I have some tragic news.

Jim McNally has passed away.

He died suddenly and unexpectedly last summer, leaving behind him his wife, Suzy, and his beloved young children, Patrick and Heather.

So far as I have been able to establish, Jim was only in his mid-thirties and he died in early August, probably just after his last post here.

This was on the 9th August and, perhaps fittingly, was paying tribute to Tuff:

In response to marti (In response to 13)

Amen, Marti.

My condolences to Tuff's family and loved ones,

Jim
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I really don't need to tell many of you about Jim, who was an avid fan of "Pompey" - Portsmouth Football Club.

Jim was a prolific poster here, a keen UD member and an exceptionally helpful man, well known for his both his knowledge and his kindness. Someone who with patience, tact and wit would doggedly pursue members' problems until they were solved.

For anyone who might want to in learn a little more about Jim and his family, his partially completed web site - which will now forever remain that way -includes some evocative pictures of his last holiday in Crete. It can be viewed here:

http://www.google.com/url?sa=U&start=2&q=http://www.btinternet.com/~james.mcnally5/&e=7168

I'm personally devastated by this shocking news and, although I could go on and on about Jim McNally, I will say my own goodbye by posting this photograph of Jim, in life, enjoying himself with his son Patrick.

It was taken, I think by Suzy, on the 3rd August, 2003, at Southsea Show - close by where he lived:

Farewell Jim...........Rest in peace......Mitch

That is so sad!

I hope this isn't becoming a trend around here.

Jim was a great asset to our forum and this is a great loss to his family and our online family. His good cheer and help to others will be sorely missed. He will be added, of course, to our sadly growing In Memoriam page.

That is incredibly sad; felt even more so when you see the pictures of he and his young family. My heartfelt sympathies go out to his family and loved ones.

My heart sank when I heard this news.Jim was especially helpful to me when I first joined PC911,He made it possible for me to get signed up to UD when they were having system problems and he was the kind of person who followed up to be sure you were OK with what he helped you with.He and I communicated regularly for awhile. He lived not too far from where I was stationed in WW2.I continued to try to find out what happened but got no reply.I recently tried to contact him to no avail.I was hoping that he might pop up at the door.During some of our discussions he mentioned he had been in America and might take a trip here again.I hoped he would stop by if he did.My heart goes out to his young family.May he rest in peace.

I'm sorry to hear the news. I'm also sorry that it happened so long ago and I just now heard of it. I remember Jim, he was very helpful, and a kind soul. I will miss him. Sometimes members leave for various reasons, but you never quite expect something like this. It's very saddening to hear.

Regards,
Brandon

Jeepers. This is getting depressing. Any idea what happened? He was awfully young.

What Shelly said. He was such an asset for us. And he had a lot of patience with the newbie's too. Another great loss for us, a new beginning for him. ....... waldo

RIP Jim. I am truly sorry to hear the news.
