"MS Antispyware Removal"

I have a question about the MS antispyware removal tool formerly known as Giant. I downloaded the beta version the other night and tried to isntall it on my system but it refused to proceed stating that it needs IE 6.0 or greater installed on the system.

Right now I have 5.5 (SP2) and have no desire whatsoever to upgrade to 6.0 as 5.5 has been doing rock solidy steady for me many years now. Question: do all versions of Giant have this IE 6.0 requirement or was the change made when MS bought out Giant? I'd like to know of a site where i can D/L an older copy of Giant.

Giant, as far as I know, is not free. If you get an old one I am not sure about the updates since new licences are not being issued.Maybe someone who owns Giant can answer. Why dont you use Spybot or Adaware?

Anyway take a chance and upgrade to IE6. For me its been rock solid and faster than Version 5.5.

I've been using those two utilities for the past 3-4 years already. Just lookin to beef up arsenal.

I've been reading this forum for a long time and I know that many members here have a lot of good things to say about Giant.

John, check out CounterSpy. It only requires IE 5.0.

CounterSpy is based upon the original Giant source code and is similar in action. A 15 day trial subscription is available.

My wifes computer was recently infected. In my instance, MS found more things than Adaware.

Stay away from porn sites. No adware, no spyware, no virus and you get brownie points from the big guy.

If that was a surefire way to get into heaven, I'd be out there bible thumpin right now.

Porn sites are not the only places you can get spyware/malware on your PC. Read the thread that Shelly posted. I can't believe people like Shelly & Allyn got spyware on their PC by perusing porn sites.
