Not sure if anyone here can possibly suggest a course of action, but my 25" monitor just appears to have died today. I came home from work and found the monitor on but not seeing any input from the HDMI port. I checked the cable connections and found them still secure. I removed and reseated the cable with no change. I switched to an old style 15 pin PC cable with no change. Powering the monitor on and off also does nothing. I'm guessing it's a circuit board failure and isn't likely worth repairing, but is there possibly something I've missed?
If I can't get something happening in the next few days I may have to replace the monitor. It may be a long shot, but I thought I'd try a bit before admitting defeat.
Does the monitor logo appear if you turn the monitor off and then on? Check it on another computer just to see if it's not the video on the computer and not the actual monitor.
I used a different monitor on this computer and it works perfectly. To answer your other question, the faulty monitor lights up green on the indicator, no logo appears, and after a minute or so the indicator turns amber, which usually signifies no connected computer. The cables used are the same ones that are working perfectly on the replacement monitor.
It's borked I have had a couple of monitors repaired but under warranty so no idea what that costs but I can't imagine being worth it unless it's a super duper monitor.
I'm using a 32" Sharp television for a monitor. It's the best monitor I have ever used. It didn't cost much and works better than anything I have ever tried. Go figure. Had to make a prop for the front of the stand because it does not swivel.
I may try that again. I have a spare 32" TV that I tried using as a second monitor a while back. I gave up on it as the 25" plus the 32" meant I had to move my head back and forth too much to view and it was more aggravation than it was worth. However, with just the 32" it may make sense. Thanks for the suggestion - I'll try that tomorrow.
