Saw a couple folks posted yesterday which confirmed this place is still functioning! With world events unfolding as they are, be great to hear from anyone that still comes by the forum from time-to-time. Just a quick update to say how you are doing.
Don't just read, hit that reply button and say "hey!"

I guess as windows and pc hardware get better, and with helpful videos, there are fewer questions that send us here. But when I DO have a question I am still sure someone more knowledgeable than I will respond. Its not just about the online friendships but about the years of experience here. I know the queries and responses are fewer, but can anyone tell me about the number of reads? Also, doesn't Jason live in NYC? Still doing well in quarantine. Fran and Randy. Fran, who couldn't live without you folks!

Yup. I live in. upstate NY. We're not getting slammed like the NYC area is, but our cases are still on the rise. We've been locked in our house for two weeks now. I only venture out to get groceries (as little as possible). When I get home, my clothes immediately go into the wash and I scrub my hands.
Beth will also occasionally venture out if her mother needs her, but that's rare. (Her mother was in the hospital for 60+ days this past summer so we don't want to expose her to anything.) The kids have been home from school for two weeks and likely will stay out for at least another month.
I'm working from home and basically living a hermit life. It's hard not being able to leave the house, but we're managing. Doing all we can to flatten the curve since the New York health care system isn't going to be able to withstand the influx of patients otherwise.

I actually checked in to see if anyone had done a check-in thread. I get scared going out for food. Going grocery shopping is like riding a bike, drunk, in Hong Kong traffic. Just to many ways to get nailed with some of the dummies around here.

Hi from Oz. Still leading my humdrum life, now doubled in spades! The whole of Oz is pretty much in lockdown now and we have no family in visiting distance anyway. Seems Ttech always beats me to the spam posts.
I don't think so. Paul is currently 14 hours ahead of us. From what I've observed, most forum spam occurs after midnight our time - 2:00 PM (14:00) Paul's time.
For example, the two spam posts above were made at 4:29 PM (16:29) and 6:25 PM (18:25 (Paul's time.
Paul probably has a life so he might not check in again until the next morning (for him) by which time Ttech will have already removed the posts.
Also, it's likely that Ttech responds to "Alerts" quicker than other moderators.

begone spammers!
Great hearing from everyone so far. Still looking for more check-ins if anyone else comes across this and can say hey. Most people I figure *should* be hunkered down by their computers right?

Been a LONG, LONG time since I've been around here. Health issues out the wazoo, and now my wife is also battling cancer. We have been acting as caregivers to each other now for the last few years. People at the Cancer Center in Philly know us well, with both of us being patients now.
I am SO sorry to read about Shelly and to see that Grogan has gone. I have spent many an interesting hour in this forum, once upon a time. Back about nine years ago, I had the opportunity to participate again for a little while after about a seven year hiatus, and then things went downhhill again. Now, I'm on an uphill swing, and trying to make the best of it.
Jason -- look for a substantial donation in the next few days. I certainly want to give a little bit back here now that ai can again...

Just checking in here. My family is still healthy so far. Some of my VA appointments were canceled due to this virus. We are having some work done on the inside of our house, basic remodel from floor up. We have a neighbor down the street bring a box of food down to us every week. WE did not ask her to do it, she just decided to do it herself. To repy her I am making her a NCW wallet and a Vivian Traveler bag.The wallet is worth about 60.00, and the travel bag is worth about 100.00. That includes my labor onit. I recently had to buy a new sewing machine.Something in the bobbin housing are broke and the bobbin would not stay in. Would not sew. That machine was over 20 years old. The new one is computerized and had a learning curve to it. Daylilydayzed Daylilies are the Lord's smiles, new one every day.

We've done quite well after a couple of speed bumps due to a competent Minister of Health and Provincial Health Officer who does what's right and doesn't require a pat on the back for doing the job. I work part time and is part of essential service of car repair so I haven't lost any time. Glad to see everyone doing ok in these crazy times.

Hey!
Long time since I have paid a visit. Got a surprise message from ChrisP yesterday which was awesome. Thought I'd stop by and check in.
I was really sad to hear about Shelly's passing. He was a great guy and y'all did a fine job posting your sentiments about him. I'm so glad he joined us at our Florida get-together many years ago.
I'm surviving 2020 OK so far. Working every day (I'm now a home inspector with my own company), trying to stay healthy following safety protocols, and making the best of it.
It's awesome to see so many familiar names still around here. You guys really have a great family here. Sorry to see that things have slowed down a bit.
I hope you all have a fantastic 4th of July weekend, that you all are happy and healthy, and wish you all the best.

It was great to see everyone that checked in - hearing from Alex was a great surprise! There seems to be some activity this month in the Computer Forum which is good.
Hope everyone is still doing well. Stay safe during the holidays and get ready for the awesome spring time that I think is coming

I managed to survive the year and so did my loved ones. Was a rather interesting year for sure... thankfully I did not get affected much since I kept my job but I feel bad for those who did get affected, or got sick, or had loved ones die etc. We got around 130 cases so far in our region total since it started, but places down south are getting more than that per day, pretty crazy.
Hopefully with the vaccine things take a turn for the better. Still a long way to go before most people can get it though. They figure Fall for us.

As a newish member of the over 65 club, I was able to schedule my first shot over a month ago and had my second yesterday. A small relief, and hope things start getting better for all.

All good here in the UK. I had the first Astra-Zeneca shot in London on Monday. No after effects to speak of. A bit drowsy the following afternoon perhaps but then - what's different?

A day shy of a year. Huh. Got the J&J one and done shot. Could have waited a week for the Moderna, but I actually wanted the J&J. Turned 65 during the interim, so was able to get me and my 92 year old mother in on the same day. They do it in a church (small town) and it looked pretty funny to see basically all the old people in the county show up in a parking lot (they did 1400 that day, got a big load of the J&J.)
I'm treating the shot as a backup to the mask and distancing and what amounts to sheltering in place. Got some N95 masks. They're probably too small, but that makes them fit nice and tight. There are plenty available if you want to pay for them.
